    Description

    Little Island seeks a Facilities Supervisor to join the Park Operations department. The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for maintaining Little Island’s high standards of responsive and efficient maintenance across all park areas. This includes overseeing maintenance programs for performance spaces, restrooms, artist support areas, food & beverage, and general park facilities, balancing multiple projects and ensuring tasks are completed safely and on schedule.

    The Facilities Supervisor will manage a team of maintenance staff in the execution of a range of physical tasks, from routine inspections to hands-on repairs, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. They will coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to maintain park equipment, furniture, and infrastructure. When needed, the Facilities Supervisor is on call to respond to emergencies during nights and weekends, ensuring issues are addressed in a timely and safe manner.

    What You’ll Do

    Team Development and Collaboration

    • Supervise maintenance technicians in the execution of routine and emergency repairs of facilities, equipment, and systems, evaluating teams task completion, offering corrective feedback, and prioritizing staff and visitor safety.
    • Hire, train, supervise, and develop in partnership with the Park Facilities Manager, a team of Maintenance Technicians, assigning tasks and providing technical support.
    • Schedule Maintenance Technicians in collaboration with Park Facilities Manager and approve timecards weekly.
    • Oversee maintenance, work orders, and inventory tracking with assistance from the Horticulture and Facilities Associate, collaborating on the purchase of tools, equipment, and supply inventory.
    • Participate in organization-wide safety training and initiatives leading trainings as needed.
    • Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure Little Island staff are trained in equipment and tools use in a timely, safe, and effective manner.

    Daily and General Maintenance

    • Lead the implementation of a daily park-wide facility inspection program.
    • Review projects, ongoing work, and priorities with the Park Facilities Manager to create daily, weekly, and seasonal schedules.
    • Perform advanced mechanical maintenance tasks as directed by the Park Facilities Manager or Senior Director of Park Operations.
    • Inspect and test park systems to identify faults, troubleshoot issues, and perform necessary repairs or emergency responses.
    • Support the upkeep of park equipment, furniture, and fixtures, coordinating repairs as needed.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization across all park areas.
    • Ensure maintenance activities comply with all laws, regulations, policies, and safety standards.
    • Perform other duties as needed, including occasional driving of rental vehicles for material delivery and pickup.

    Preventative and Seasonal Maintenance

    • Plan and oversee preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
    • Lead seasonal maintenance activities, such as water system startup, winterization, and the use of mechanized equipment.
    • Coordinate and supervise on-site work with external contractors for repairs and adjustments, assisting Park Facilities Manager in developing scopes of work, contracts, and schedules.

    What You Bring

    • 4 years of hands-on, field-based facilities/maintenance experience in a supervisory capacity.
    • Experience leading teams, with a strong desire to teach, train, and develop staff.
    • Certifications in relevant trades: electrical systems experience strongly preferred; HVAC, plumbing or mechanical systems experience are a plus.
    • Strong knowledge of construction, building systems, and maintenance best practices.
    • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills, with a commitment to safety.
    • Ability to project manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of work quality. Knowledge of Upkeep or similar project tracking software a plus.
    • Ability to maintain a professional and hospitable demeanor.
    • OSHA 30, Aerial Boom Lift, Scissor Lift, and Forklift certification preferred.
    • Comfort working outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions (light rain, summer heat, direct sunlight).
    • Ability to transport or lift items weighing up to 80 lbs., set up and break down equipment and materials within the park and storage areas.
    • Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and use hands for fine tasks.
