Position Description
In line with our current strategic plan, Juma is well-poised to expand our Individual Giving Program and grow our annual budget. To achieve these priorities, Juma seeks an Individual Giving Manager with a proven track record of securing financial support from individual donors.
Working with the Director of Individual Giving, they will design, develop, and implement our Individual Giving Program to raise $681,700 in 2025 through a combination of appeals, events, and frontline fundraising efforts. They’ll be responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing donors, maintaining a list of prospective donors, and leading annual fund campaigns.
This position requires exceptional passion and drive for our work and a commitment to working in partnership with various stakeholders. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our mission is key. The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-directed, organized, and results-oriented.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Identify, Cultivate, Solicit, and Steward Prospects/Donors (40% of the time)
- Manage a portfolio of 10-15 individual donors and prospects with the potential to make annual investments
- Conduct 12-20 meaningful visits each year with donors and prospects for field research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- In collaboration with the Director of Individual Giving, Chief Development Officer, and Chief Executive Officer, identify, develop, and cultivate a significant prospects pipeline as part of the organization’s evolving fundraising strategy
- Plan and implement events and activities (tours, receptions, friend-raisers, etc.) for individual donors, using existing activities as appropriate
- Engage in networking activities or other opportunities to generate potential prospects for cultivation
- Activate, coach, and support staff in cultivating and soliciting donors; proactively collaborating with colleagues across the national organization and each market to develop effective and coordinated strategies for all donors in the pipeline
- Organize the Chief Development Officer and Chief Executive Officer’s monthly donor meeting schedule
- Create and implement moves management plans
- Prepare written proposals, funder pitches, gift agreements, and other materials needed to define, secure, and document individual gifts
- Successfully solicit gifts, negotiate gift terms, and ensure that gift agreements are created and followed
- Maintain an annual pipeline of prospective donors who will be solicited
- Ensure best-in-class donor stewardship
Annual Fund Campaigns (20% of the time)
- Lead Juma’s Spring and End of Year fundraising appeals
- Assist Site Development Leads to develop site-specific individual giving campaign strategies
- Manage online annual appeal logistics, working with the Marketing & Communications Team and program colleagues to create fundraising materials that effectively advance Juma’s mission
National Fundraising Gala and Community Events (20% of the time)
- Partner with the Community Engagement Manager, Director of Individual Giving, Chief Development Officer, and members of the National Development Team to plan and execute Juma’s National Fundraising Gala
- Lead key aspects of planning for Juma’s National Fundraising Gala, including overseeing engagement and communication efforts with Host Committee members and National Board members
- Manage silent auction procurement process for Juma’s National Fundraising Gala and Site Community Events
- Support Site Development Leads with the planning and execution of regional donor events as needed
Marketing/Social Media Strategy (10% of the time)
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications team to conceptualize and implement online giving initiatives/campaigns
- Work with the Marketing & Communications team to shape the development presence on the website, in communications, and in social media
- Collect, write, and analyze donor-centric social media campaigns and posts
Donor Administration (10% of the time)
- Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual activity to achieve individual performance measures
- Maintain accurate and complete records of donor communications
- Track and report relationship management activity using Salesforce and other relationship management tools; assist with review and verification of donor recognition lists
- Prepare regular reports on individual giving and events activities
- Monitor revenue and expenses related to the individual giving program
- Follow the CASE Code of Ethics for Fundraisers and maintain donor confidentiality
Qualifications
- 3+ years of individual fund development experience, specifically with donor cultivation and solicitation
- Experience soliciting $5,000+ gifts, a plus
- A passion for fundraising and supporting youth from under-resourced communities
- An advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practices
- Attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and experience in developing clear and concise funding proposals
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
- Ability to work with senior management and national board members
- Previous experience with Salesforce/CRM databases is preferred
- Experience with MailChimp is preferred
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
- Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills

Classification: Full-time, exempt, with some nights and weekends per business needs
Hours/Week: 40 hours
Hybrid Work Environment: Juma maintains a hybrid work environment. The Individual Giving Manager will be expected to work out of the organization’s San Francisco office two days per week.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
