The African American Policy Forum (AAPF) is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for its 2025 Summer Fellowship Program. This ten-week, U.S.-based fellowship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to AAPF’s mission.
The fellowship is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week paid position, running from Monday, June 9, 2025, through Friday, August 15, 2025, with a strong preference for candidates located in New York, the DC/Baltimore area, and Nashville. Due to the intensive and immersive nature of the program, fellows must commit exclusively to the AAPF Summer Fellowship and may not concurrently participate in other fellowships.
AAPF is seeking an enthusiastic Infographics and Concept/Data Visualization Summer Fellow to join our team! This role combines infographics and other concept/data visualization expertise with a commitment to advancing equity and social change. This Fellow would work with the Director of Research and Partnerships to develop compelling visualizations that transform complex ideas into quickly comprehensible visual narratives. This might include infographics, templates for fact sheets or reports, animations, mapping, charts, timelines or other related forms of media. This is a 10 week summer fellowship position.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Developing infographics and other data/concept visualizations based on AAPF research for AAPF social media and website, reports, and events;
Creating animations, such as whiteboard videos; and/or
Graphic recording of events such as CRT Summer School; creating templates for reports based on AAPF events.
The ideal candidate should have
Small portfolio of visualizations or infographics to demonstrate experience translating complex ideas into compelling visualizations or infographics
Bachelor's degree or higher
Demonstrated experience in graphic design, concept/data visualization, or related fields.
Experience with Canva required
Experience with Flourish and/or related tools desired
Experience creating animations, graphic recordings or other visual facilitation techniques, and/or data visualization tools (Adobe Creative Suite Tableau, Power BI, ggplot2)
Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, accessible infographics or other types of visualizations
