    Description

    About Learn To Be

Learn To Be is a national nonprofit that provides free, 1-on-1, online tutoring to underserved students. Every year, over 10,000 students and tutors come through our platform. To date, we've hosted over 300,000 hours of tutoring for K-12 students. Since 2019, we’ve grown by 50x, and our Wall of Love contains just a small fraction of the stories from families, tutors, and partners whose lives have been impacted through tutoring.

Now, we’re looking for a Chief Evangelist to use your voice, camera, writing, and storytelling skills to rally new donors, activate your audience, and build the campaigns that make growth possible. Your sole focus is to raise $500,000 in donations within their first 15–18 months. Everything else (eg, content, social reach, awareness, even student/tutor recruitment) is in service of that singular goal.

We know this is a unique role that combines aspects of social media, fundraising, and marketing. But we've been so inspired by individual creators from around the world who have been able to rally communities around a mission. And we're looking for that person for Learn To Be so we can continue to help kids who need it most.

    What You’ll Do

    • Be the voice of LTB. Show up on camera, on social media, and in real life to tell stories that move people to care and give.
    • Create and publish powerful content. Film, edit, and share short-form videos (UGC), interviews, and behind-the-scenes content across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter/X, and more.
    • Lead donor campaigns. Launch and run digital fundraising pushes: Giving Tuesday, back-to-school, monthly giving drives, year-end appeals, and more.
    • Turn impact into emotion. Interview students, tutors, and parents — and craft their stories into campaigns that inspire support.
    • Travel to capture real moments. Visit students, families, and tutors to build authentic, on-the-ground stories.
    • Write for connection and action. Whether it’s a donor email, tweet thread, video script, or campaign landing page, you’ll write with clarity and heart.
    • Build and mobilize your audience. Use your platform to drive awareness and donations — not just impressions or likes.

    What We’re Looking For

    • You’ve built an audience. You have 20,000+ followers organically on at least one platform (TikTok, Instagram, Twitter/X, YouTube, Substack, blog, etc), and you know how to engage and mobilize people.
    • You like being on social media. You enjoy posting, engaging, experimenting with trends, and showing up online consistently.
    • You love people and talking to them. You're the extrovert in your group and able to talk to anyone.
    • You’re a storyteller and writer. You know how to craft a compelling narrative that drives action.
    • You’re scrappy and self-sufficient. You can shoot and edit content yourself using tools like CapCut, Final Cut, Descript, etc.
    • You thrive on camera. You’re confident, relatable, and trust-building.
    • You care about education. Whether it’s education equity, learning science, or grassroots impact, you’re passionate about giving kids a fair shot.
    • You think like a campaigner. You're able to turn content into results and followers into donors.

    Why You'll Enjoy This Work

You will have about as much autonomy as you can imagine to bring to life the things you can think of!

Why You Might Not Enjoy This Work

We're a small team trying to scale our service. So if you require a lot of structure and process and guidance, this won't be the place for you.

    Bonus If You Have

    • Experience raising funds through content, community, or grassroots outreach
    • Prior work with nonprofits, advocacy orgs, or education groups
    • Knowledge of education policy or the science of learning
    • Experience launching or growing a brand with a mission

    Why This Role Matters

Your north star is revenue, not reach. As Chief Evangelist, your job is to tell stories that unlock donations. You’ll be our voice, our campaign runner, our field reporter, and our lead advocate. And the donations you generate will directly fuel free tutoring for kids who need it most.

40% of the kids in this country can't read or do basic math by age 9. You'll help us grow so we can help bring this percentage to 0.

    A couple of final notes:
