    About Us

    Workshop Learning is the nonprofit partner of the Workshop School, a project-based public high school in Philadelphia that focuses on hands-on, real-world learning. The nonprofit supports the school in a number of ways, including fundraising and advocacy, supplies, and staffing. While the school's faculty and administration are employees of the School District of Philadelphia, select staff including the Makerspace and Technology Coordinator are employed by the nonprofit.

    Position Overview

    The Makerspace and Technology Coordinator will oversee and manage our state-of-the-art makerspace while also supporting the integration and maintenance of technology throughout the school. This role involves facilitating workshops, collaborating with teachers to incorporate hands-on projects into the curriculum, ensuring the safe and effective use of makerspace tools, and maintaining school-wide technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate is passionate about creative problem-solving, student-centered learning, and leveraging technology to enhance education.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Manage and maintain the makerspace, ensuring organization and safety.
    • Facilitate hands-on workshops and assist in project-based learning.
    • Support teachers in integrating makerspace tools and technology.
    • Troubleshoot and maintain makerspace equipment and school technology.
    • Ensure safety protocols and train students on proper equipment use.
    • Oversee technology infrastructure, provide tech support, and train staff.
    • Manage inventory, procure equipment, and ensure cybersecurity best practices.
    • Run a summer program in the makerspace serving 10-15 students.

    Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies

    • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to foster a creative, inclusive learning environment.
    • Experience in makerspaces, STEM education, or IT support.
    • Familiarity with 3D printers and laser cutters (and associated software), and woodworking tools.
    • Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance on Google chrome books.

    This is a full-time, year-round position.
