    Summary

18 Million Rising (18MR) is seeking a creative Digital Organizing Strategist to amplify our digital voice and power campaigns mobilizing progressive and radical Asian Americans nationwide. In this pivotal role, you will lead the growth and management of our social media channels, design and execute a dynamic monthly content calendar, and cultivate authentic engagement with our community, members, and allies across the U.S.

As our Digital Organizing Strategist, you are passionate about digital storytelling and social justice. You stay ahead of social media trends and know how to craft engaging, multi-dimensional content that reflects the diversity, resilience, and activism of Asian America. Your work will span breaking news, original commentary, campaign updates, partner collaborations, arts and culture, history, fundraising, and creative formats—memes, political commentary, humor, and more.

You will harness social media as a tool for education, mobilization, and inspiration—deepening trust, sparking action, and building collective power. You’ll also contribute to campaign strategy, collaborate across teams, and serve as a vital connector for followers to members and supporters within 18MR’s work.

Ideal candidates bring experience in digital organizing, social media management, storytelling, and copywriting. You are tech-savvy, trend-aware, and driven to use digital platforms to advance social justice and collective liberation.

    Responsibilities

Social Media Organizing & Community Mobilization (60%)

    • Lead digital organizing efforts by using social media to inspire, educate, and mobilize Asian American communities for collective action.
    • Maintain and grow 18MR’s social media presence (Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, LinkedIn, YouTube, and others), ensuring content is timely, relevant, and rooted in current political and cultural moments.
    • Engage directly with members and supporters online—sparking conversations, responding to questions, and building relationships that deepen trust and participation.
    • Collaborate closely with the OrganizingTeam to translate organizing goals into compelling digital actions, campaign calls-to-action, and shareable content.
    • Coordinate and facilitate special events—such as live streams, digital town halls, and online actions—bringing together partners, staff, and members to build momentum for campaigns.
    • Identify and elevate emergent issues and opportunities for rapid response organizing, turning trending topics into winnable campaigns.
    • Support and manage the 18MR Communications committee, guiding their participation in finding, analyzing, and amplifying stories that matter to our base.

    Digital Campaign Strategy & Cross-Team Collaboration (20%)

    • Co-create and implement monthly content strategies and calendars that align with 18MR’s organizing priorities and campaign goals.
    • Advise staff and partners on best practices for digital organizing, and integrate social media tactics into broader campaign strategies.
    • Build and nurture partnerships with allied organizations, influencers, and community leaders to expand our reach and impact.
    • Serve as a public representative for 18MR in digital spaces, including occasional media requests and public statements.
    • Facilitate workshops, trainings, and political education sessions to strengthen the digital organizing capacity of staff, members, and partners.

    Research, Analysis & Innovation (5%)

    • Track and analyze social media metrics to assess the impact of organizing strategies, inform future tactics, and report insights to the team and funders.
    • Monitor digital organizing trends, emerging platforms, and new tools to keep 18MR at the forefront of digital movement-building.
    • Troubleshoot and adapt to changes in social media algorithms, platform policies, and digital landscapes that affect our organizing work.

    Administration & Team Support (15%)

    • Participate in regular staff meetings, check-ins, and organizational wellness activities to foster a healthy, collaborative work culture.
    • Contribute to operational tasks such as hiring, onboarding, and staff retreats.
    • Support internal political education and transition processes to strengthen team alignment and movement strategy.

    Required Skills and Work Experience

    • 3–5 years of experience in social movements or organizing, with a strong track record in digital campaigns or online organizing—either as paid staff or a dedicated volunteer.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
    • Proficient with social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Sprinklr, Hootsuite, Later, Buffer, Loomly) and content scheduling platforms.
    • Strong design sense, with skills in graphic design, motion graphics, or video editing; proficiency in tools such as Photoshop and After Effects.
    • Self-motivated and collaborative, able to work independently while thriving in a team environment; adaptable to shifting priorities with positivity and resilience.
    • Experienced in leveraging digital technologies to advance social media campaigns, political education, and organizing programs.
    • Strategic and visionary thinker, skilled at identifying trends, anticipating challenges, and recommending creative pivots.
