    Description

    About CFI

The Centre for Feed Innovation (CFI) is a research and advocacy NGO that is accelerating innovation in animal feed. CFI works with agribusiness and investors to scale the production and adoption of novel feed ingredients. We promote novel feed ingredients to reduce demand for unsustainable animal feed ingredients, including fishmeal and soybean meal. Check out our website and LinkedIn page to learn more about who we are and what we do.

CFI is at an exciting growth stage and is looking to hire a Communications Manager to manage our digital and media advocacy. It is a permanent, part-time role.

How you will make a difference:

CFI is at the forefront of the movement to advance sustainability in agricultural and animal feed. As communications manager, you will use strategic thinking, digital skills, and creative storytelling to maximise the impact of CFI’s communication materials and advocacy. One of the biggest challenges in agricultural sustainability is raising awareness about the potential of novel feed ingredients. In this role, you will help our team manage and enhance CFI’s communications output.

Your role will primarily consist of:

    • Developing and delivering a digital engagement strategy that increases advocacy, support, and action among target audiences.
    • Managing CFI’s social media channels, website and email newsletter.
    • Developing engaging digital and print content – from LinkedIn blog posts, to social media posts and videos – tailored to our target audiences.
    • Support the wider team in their production of visual and print content, including proofreading, producing reports, slide decks, press releases, and audiovisual content.

    Who we’re looking for:

    You must have:

    • Digital communications experience, especially managing LinkedIn engagement.
    • The ability to produce engaging visual content for social media, such as infographics or short-form content.
    • The ability to produce professional presentation slides and print report materials.
    • Advanced English language skills, particularly in writing, with the ability to write concise, engaging copy and distil complex scientific and commercial information into user-friendly language. Sharp proofreading eye and commitment to accuracy.
    • Experience working with digital tools such as Canva and Wix.
    • Understanding of social media analytics, namely LinkedIn and newsletters. Working knowledge of SEO and keyword optimisation for web pages and posts
    • A keen interest and ability to learn about sustainable food systems, aquaculture, pet food, or animal feed.
    • A can-do approach: a self-starter with the drive and initiative to take responsibility and an ability to see projects through to completion within a small organisation.
    • Comfort working remotely, and the ability to work well independently and meet deadlines.

The ideal candidate may also have some of the following, although these are not requirements:

    • A professional background in science and/or sustainability communications.
    • Skills in advanced digital tools, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, video editing software, producing webinars, filming equipment, and audio recording.
    • Experience working on media outreach and handling press enquiries.
    • Experience working in or alongside aquafeed, pet food, animal nutrition, or alternative protein companies.

    Contract description

    • Length of Engagement: Part-time role, starting with a 1-year renewable contract.
    • Start date: By September 2025, or earlier.
    • Hours: This is a part-time role, ranging from 2 - 3 days a week (16 - 24 hours).
    • Location: We will consider applicants from anywhere. This is a fully remote role. Candidates will need to overlap with UK (GMT) working hours for up to 5 hours per week.
    • Salary: Salary is based on experience & location of employment. We benchmark our salaries above the average market rate for an NGO. We are willing to consider higher compensation for experienced, outstanding candidates.
      • If based in the UK, the full-time salary range is £40,000 - £48,000. The salary will be prorated based on the agreed hours.
    • Contract: We offer an employment contract, but are open to working with freelance contractors should this model be preferred by the candidate.
    • Right-to-work requirements: The successful candidate must, by the start of employment, have permission to work in the country where they are based.
    • Travel: No travel is required by this role.

    Application process:

Please submit your CV and cover letter via this form. Successful applicants will be invited to conduct a short written assignment. If successful, candidates will be invited to interviews.

    • The application deadline is June 15th 2025, at midnight.
