    Position Purpose:

    Giving Kitchen seeks a strategic, people-centered, and visionary Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) to lead the organization’s fundraising and development efforts. As a key member of the Executive Team, the CPO is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive development strategy that ensures the financial sustainability of Giving Kitchen and supports its mission of providing emergency assistance to food service workers in crisis across the United States.

    The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in nonprofit fundraising, major donor engagement, and corporate partnerships, with a proven ability to scale philanthropic efforts in dynamic, high-growth environments. The CPO will oversee senior development leaders and operations and will develop and implement comprehensive strategies to secure funding from diverse sources. This is an executive leadership role that would be joining an exciting team that is innovative, passionate, and growth oriented.

    Job Responsibilities:

    The Chief Philanthropy Officer is responsible for leading the future growth and ensuring successful current fundraising efforts of the organization. This role requires a strategic and visionary leader who is very people-centric and has a strong background in nonprofit fundraising, strategic planning, and team management. Industry experience is a bonus!

    Strategic Planning and Leadership

    • Collaborate closely with the CEO, Executive Team, and Board of Directors to align growth strategies with the organization’s overall mission and strategic plan.
    • Collaborate with the CEO, Executive Team, and Board to set ambitious yet achievable revenue targets and performance metrics.
    • Drive a comprehensive growth strategy across all philanthropy channels—individual giving, foundation grants, corporate partnerships, events, and planned giving—to diversify revenue streams, build sustainable donor engagement, and strengthen our successful fundraising initiatives.
    • Stay ahead of philanthropic trends and innovations, applying best practices and bold ideas to continuously strengthen the organization’s fundraising strategy.
    • Explore new funding streams that go beyond conventional nonprofit fundraising approaches.

    Team Management and Leadership

    • Lead the development team, including managing senior leaders, setting performance goals, and providing ongoing coaching and mentorship.
    • Regularly communicate growth performance and fundraising reports to the board, staff, and donor leadership.
    • Engage the Board of Directors and Development Committee in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture built on empathy, trust, and gratitude yet clearly focused on achieving growth goals.
    • Develop—and as needed, recruit and hire—a high-performing development team with expertise across critical revenue-generating and fundraising functions.

    Development Operations

    • Ensure development operations are efficient, data-informed, and meets our annual budget goal.
    • Support team with execution and evolution of current fund raising initiatives including Society Giving, Annual Corporate Partners Program, Signature Events (Team Hidi, Forkside Seats, Say Yes Chef!), Foundation and Institutional Giving and Planned Giving.
    • Ensure data-driven decision-making and accurate forecasting, leveraging Salesforce and other tools to track progress, analyze trends, and optimize donor engagement.
    • Lead collaboration with finance to ensure the development team is upholding accurate gift reporting, financial forecasting, and compliance with all charitable giving regulations.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Facilitate alignment between development and other departments to ensure fundraising efforts reflect and support programmatic goals.
    • Collaborate with marketing and communications to align fundraising strategy with brand messaging and storytelling.
    • Champion a Culture of Philanthropy across the organization.

    Portfolio Management

    • Manage a small portfolio of major donors and strategic partners, personally engaging in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
    • Drive senior leaders and the CEO in managing and closing high-level gifts and sponsorships.
    • Drive senior leaders in cultivation, stewardship, and closing of annual fundraising campaign.
    • Lead efforts to identify and build a robust pipeline of prospective donors and partners aligned with Giving Kitchen’s national impact.

    Qualifications and Key Skills:

    • 7-10 years of nonprofit fundraising or business development experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role.
    • Proven track record of fundraising success, particularly in the non-profit sector.
      • Demonstrated ability leading fundraising strategies in a high-growth or scaling nonprofit, ideally with national or multi-regional reach.
      • Strong ability to develop comprehensive long-term strategies, considering trends, funding landscape, and internal capacity.
      • Experience engaging diverse donor communities and applying culturally competent stewardship practices.
      • Data-driven decision-making and analytic capability to guide fundraising strategy.
      • Knowledge of individual giving program strategies and best practices.
    • Experience cultivating board fundraising leadership and supporting governance functions related to development.
    • Strong leadership and management skills with experience leading and motivating a development team. Experience managing senior leaders is strongly preferred.
    • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and building consensus across departments.
    • Ability to work with marketing teams to align brand messaging with philanthropic opportunities.
    • Excellent coaching skills to assist, support and enable team members to successfully accomplish their respective goals and responsibilities.
    • Technology proficient – experienced with donor/constituent database systems, preferably Salesforce, and skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Some travel required. Some nights and weekend events required.

    • Has a passion for the food service industry (bonus if you have worked in it).
