    IT Coordinator Position

    A central part of Clay Pots’ mission is to advance digital equity for our community. To further this mission, we are hiring a contractual IT Coordinator to oversee the implementation, launch, ongoing support and maintenance, and evaluation of our new mobile computer lab. The goal of this project is to address the critical need for access to reliable technology and digital literacy training in our community, which is essential to improving educational outcomes, workforce readiness, and much more.

    The IT Coordinator will be essential to getting the mobile computer lab running. This role will coordinate installation of computer devices, essential programs, antivirus software, and security measures to protect the mobile computer lab and existing stationary lab.

    After the lab is fully launched, the IT Coordinator will conduct regular inspections of the lab and its network to ensure proper maintenance and to give appropriate recommendations for repairs and updates. This role will also assist in general Clay Pots center IT requests as needed.

    Key Responsibilities

    IT Support

    • Initial point of contact for staff IT support requests including but not limited to assisting staff with basic troubleshooting in both remote and on-site capacities
    • Implement firmware updates and do maintenance/setup of printers and scanners
    • Manage hardware and software inventory, including but not limited to warranty and repairs or replacements for laptops, printers, scanners, networking devices, tablets, and AV equipment
    • Work closely with the Operations Associate to ensure tickets and projects are completed in a timely manner
    • Support the implementation of strong cybersecurity measures for hardware and software, adhering to standards set by the Executive Director and grant parameters.
    • Support the research of landscape analysis regarding digital security threats and putting forth recommendations for solutions

    Project Management

    • Support technical projects being delivered on schedule and meet program and technical requirements
    • Run monthly reports of hardware and software use including required updates to OS and related software, firmware, and apps
    • Support annual assessments of IT systems in collaboration with Executive Director or Operations Associate, work collaboratively to ensure tech and lab space adheres to guidelines set by grants and other stakeholders.
    • Create a security system/plan for protection of the lab that includes device tracking, alarms, etc.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum one year, ideally two years, of experience providing direct IT support to multiple staff
    • Strong hardware, software, and database skills with an ability to learn new systems and keep up-to-date with changing technologies
    • People-first approach, with strong communication skills that bridge the digital divide
    • Preferred fluency in working with PCs
    • Ability to explain technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences
    • Commitment to Clay Pots’ mission, values, and aspirations, and ability to render these values into practice.
    • Demonstrated experience in building an inclusive environment
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team supporting the diverse partners

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to talk, hear, stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The incumbent is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand on a stool, etc.

    Hours: This is a contractual position with 16-24 hours per week during implementation in Month 1. Months 2-11 will be 4-6 hours per week, depending on maintenance needs. This is a temporary, grant-funded position.

    Compensation: $22-27, depending on experience, with flexibility.

    Location: In-person, many tasks will require being physically in the computer lab
