    About AAANY

    The Arab American Association of New York (AAANY) is a 501(c)(3) not for profit social service organization located in Brooklyn, New York. Our mission is to support and empower the Arab immigrant community by providing services that will help them to adjust to their new homeland and become active members of American society. Our aim is for families to achieve the ultimate goals of independence, productivity, and stability.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Ensuring AAANY’s Brooklyn Arab Youth Program has a successful, engaged cohort of youth participating in weekly afterschool programming.
    • Overseeing curriculum planning and evaluation processes for the Brooklyn Arab Youth Program
    • Recruiting students/youth and promoting consistent participation in youth programming.
    • Develop and manage new and existing cultural and programmatic partnerships
    • Grant reporting, presenting information to stakeholders and funders at site visits
    • Promoting AAANY’s advocacy work on social media and print promotional materials.
    • Leading AAANY’s civic engagement campaigns which include political education, voter registration, and civic engagement activities. This includes working within the AAANY’s larger Advocacy and Civic Engagement (ACE) team by attending weekly departmental meetings and supporting the team with events, rallies, and actions
    • Conducting outreach activities in the community
    • Mobilize youth and community members around advocacy actions such as voter registration, direct actions, advocacy campaigns, etc.
    • Manage PT youth organizer
    • Attend staff meetings
    • Complete work plans and reports in a timely fashion
    • Other tasks as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    Knowledge of Arabic culture and identity in the united states

    Passion for political education

    1-2 years experience with youth populations

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Excellent knowledge of English and preferably a good working knowledge of Arabic.
