    Description

    Come join Lotus Bloom as our new Senior Director of Programs & Family Navigation overseeing our programs in downtown Oakland, central, and east Oakland. We are looking for someone who is a skilled facilitator and knowledgeable about Alameda County Social Services, community resources, family support and early childhood education who can cultivate resources for traditionally underserved communities. The position will oversee a variety of programs geared at promoting healthy outcomes for both the child and their family. The position provides guidance and evaluation to ensure participants achieve milestones and cycle participants in and out of the Lotus Bloom programs.

    What You'll Do

    The Senior Director of Programs & Family Navigation is responsible for the oversight and successful execution of all Lotus Blooms programs including playgroups, family navigation, family resource center networks, rapid response fund, community events, etc. This position is responsible for the leadership, full implementation and successful execution of our family navigation program, which includes training, hiring, and developing our Family Navigators. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Programs & Family Navigation oversees and ensures the successful program delivery at the Downtown, Garfield, and Room to Bloom sites and provides thought leadership, support the Site Directors, and steps in to fill program positions when necessary. This position will directly manage two (2) Site Directors and four (4) Family Navigators regularly. The position uplifts best practices and themes to inform and co-facilitate the County Family Navigation Network and the Oakland Family Resource Center Network with the Executive Director.

    The major responsibilities of this position specifically include the following:

    Family Navigation (40%)

    • Oversee Family Navigation, prioritize and evaluate strategies to inform and drive the direction of the department
    • Oversee family navigation based on grant deliverables and scopes of work; manage department budget including monitoring for quarterly spending, negotiation, and reporting
    • Coordinate and manage long term partnerships that are neighborhood focused in the San Antonio, Castlemont, and Downtown/West Oakland neighborhoods including leadership of the Family Resource Center collaborative and networks; maintain up to date community knowledge of local issues of importance to families, residents, local government, etc.
    • Act as liaison to external partners (school, clinics, hospitals, clinicians, city, county, and elected offices etc.)
    • Engage in resource cultivation through prospective contracts and funding opportunities. Creation of Family Plans for those requiring intensive case management beyond the scope or abilities of Family Navigators
    • Connect with and support families in-person and virtually via appointments when necessary
    • Lead consistent refining and updating of policies and procedures for Family Navigation
    • Support reporting requirements to funders including drafting grant report narratives and ensuring data and scopes of work are entered accurately
    • Coordinate with staff to ensure representation at grantee convenings and other local functions
    • Assess risk and protective factors for families, guide Family Navigators through the assessment process and support recommendations for resources and services
    • Oversee organizational partnerships including services and agencies, community cultural practitioners and enrichment specialists and more to enrich all of Lotus Bloom’s programs through neighborhood-based collaboration
    • Assess current parent leadership activities and refine Parent Leadership activities to build a workforce pipeline.
    • Assess impact and oversee the intake process for Lotus Bloom’s Rapid Response Fund
    • Coordinate implementation of services including diapers, basic needs, and community
    • resources
    • Attend meetings with curriculum and family navigation collaboration
    • Coordinate and oversee volunteers for diaper preps and diaper distributions
    • Complete special projects as assigned

    Programs (40%)

    • Design and oversee the implementation and execution Lotus Bloom’s educational programs and evaluate effectiveness
    • Oversee & operate programs based on grant deliverables and scopes of work; manage department budget including monitoring for quarterly spending, negotiation, and reporting
    • In collaboration with the Associate Director, co-lead the Professional Development Committee
    • Identify training needs and opportunities for staff development
    • Provide leadership, thought partnership and resources to each of Lotus Bloom’s Site Directors
    • Ensure that the quality of the programs delivered at each site is consistent

    Team & Organization (20%)

    • Attend and participate in all Leadership Team meetings
    • Hire, onboard and supervise Family Navigation team members
    • Hire, onboard and provide support and leadership to Site Directors
    • Manage compliance of grant requirements through attendance of meetings, data tracking, report writing, and updating of documents
    • Assess and facilitate annual staff evaluations for all direct reports
    • Review and approve time sheets, time off requests, etc.
    • Monitor staff accountability plans
    • Coordinate and lead team meetings
    • Interview potential staff for positions across the organization

    What Experience You Will Bring

    • Master of Science in Social Welfare (MSW) or Master of Science in Counseling: Family & Child Counseling (MFCC)
    • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in family support, resource referral or case management in a social service, education, or nonprofit environment
    • Minimum of three (3) years of program management experience
    • At least two (2) years of experience managing at least three (3) mid-level direct reports
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask; strong organizational skills.
    • Previous experience with Strengthening Families Framework and its application to family support and early childhood programs
    • Intermediate proficiency in either MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets).
    • Intermediate proficiency with Canva, Zoom, and other cloud-based platforms
    • Ability to effectively resolve both complex and day-today problems and obstacles
    • Previous experience working in diverse communities
    • Previous experience building programs and processes for Lotus Blooms diverse internal and external stakeholders

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Verbal and written skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mam or Arabic languages a plus
    • Two years of teaching experience or related field

    Physical Requirements

    This position performs its duties in an open classroom and office environment. You must be able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation:

    • Ability to travel between our main office and two (2) site locations all within the City of Oakland
    • Stand, sit, kneel, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for the duration of shift.
    • Able to operate standard office equipment including computers, keyboard, phones, and printers.
    • Traverse safely throughout the entirety of the facility.
    • Safely lift, move, and transport items weighing up to 30 lbs.
    • Communicate in a clear speaking voice in person, over the phone and during video conferences.
    • Ability to complete health screening including Tb clearance and DOJ LiveScan screening.

    This is a regular full-time, exempt position scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional nights and weekends with advanced notice. The starting rate of pay is $90,326. Lotus Bloom offers the following benefits for this position including:
