    About the Position

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is a member-institution community of research-intensive libraries and archives in Canada and the United States. This position will be held by a passionate and experienced individual with a proven track record of effectively working with senior and executive leaders to further develop their skills and competencies and to create innovative, healthy, diverse, equitable, and inclusive organizations.

As part of the ARL staff—and in consultation with the Association’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee—the incumbent is responsible for actively contributing to the design, delivery, and assessment of all of ARL’s Leadership & Transformation programs and initiatives; providing tools and resources to advance the Association’s goals; and operationalizing efforts to actualize and measure the Association’s impact related to DEI. This is a unique role for someone looking to make a difference in leading and shaping the research library profession. The director will contribute to development of the next phase of the Association’s work to actualize its vision and mission.

ARL is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the professional workplace. We are firmly committed to providing opportunities for outstanding persons of every race/ethnicity, gender, creed, and background. We encourage applications from candidates who thrive in an environment that embraces diversity and inclusivity.

ARL offers competitive salary and numerous benefits, including paid time off (22 days of vacation as well as 12 days sick leave and a personal day per year in addition to holidays and additional office closings); life, long-term disability, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance; health & dental insurance; and retirement contributions (403b).

For priority consideration, application materials should be received by 11:59 p.m. Hawaii–Aleutian standard time (UTC-10:00) on Monday, June 30, 2025.
