    Temple Micah, Membership Manager

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    Temple Micah, a vibrant and creative Reform congregation of about 700 families in Washington, DC, is seeking a Membership Manager. This position is responsible for welcoming new members, helping to deepen relationships within our congregation, managing membership engagement, and supporting various activities and lifecycle events. The Membership Manager collaborates with staff and lay-led committees to create an inclusive environment, foster a sense of belonging, and help cultivate Micah’s culture.

    Our ideal candidate is someone who is interested in growth within the organization.

    This is a full-time, exempt position. Recognizing that community engagement often happens outside of traditional office hours, the Membership Manager’s schedule will include occasional evening and weekend hours. When evening or weekend activities are required, hours are adjusted accordingly. The position is not eligible for regular remote or telework, though occasional remote work may be permitted.

    REPORTS TO:

    Executive Director

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Prospective and New Member Management

    • Serve as the point of contact for prospective members, coordinating with the clergy, Machon Micah (religious school) team, and other staff to provide personalized outreach and guidance through the membership process.
    • Manage the new member trajectory, tracking inquiries, follow-ups, and onboarding touchpoints.
    • Develop and implement strategies to welcome and integrate new members.
    • Collaborate with and provide leadership to the Membership Committee on the execution of these activities.

    Relationship Building

    • Establish, support and maintain relationships with members, keeping the pulse on member interests and needs and making connections when appropriate.
    • Serve as a primary staff point of contact for various lay-led groups.
    • Develop, maintain and support relationships with external partners.

    Activities, Engagement, Lifecycle

    • In collaboration with other staff and lay-led committees, oversee, develop and execute activities and volunteer opportunities that engage members across all segments of the community.
    • Provide logistical support and outreach for clergy-led educational programming.
    • Collaborate with the Machon Micah staff on all-community events.
    • Support members and clergy in lifecycle events (specifically, births, weddings, and deaths).

    Administrative Support

    • Ensure membership data is kept up to date and provide membership data reports to staff, board and committees, as requested.
    • Play a lead role in the annual membership renewal process.
    • As part of the administrative team, provide back-up office support to colleagues.

    EXPERIENCE

    • 3-5 years of relevant experience (e.g., membership outreach, volunteer management, community organizing, event planning, project management)
    • Familiarity with synagogue life, Jewish holidays and ritual, preferred
    • Familiarity with CRM software (ShulCloud or similar), preferred

    SALARY & BENEFITS:

    • The salary for this job is $60,000-70,000 (depending on experience)
