    Description

    A2 is the nation’s largest coalition of frontline communities fighting for environmental protection. We represent more than 400 member-communities in all 55 U.S. states and territories. We work to educate, organize and support -- with money, grant management and other technical assistance -- grassroots leaders and communities who are challenging corporate greed and governmental inertia.

    We are seeking a part-time contractor with broad expertise in managing climate resilience planning and implementation projects, to provide project management support to our members. Specifically, the person must have expertise in:

    • Watershed planning and risk analysis with a focus on nature-based strategies and wildlife conservation
    • Basic GIS mapping
    • Managing resilience projects, especially those funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, including federal compliance, reporting, reimbursements, advance requests, budget amendments, or other NFWF tasks.
    • Grant writing, especially with respect to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grants
    • Partnership development, including the resources, agencies, coalitions, webinars that might be helpful to A2 members.
    • Procurement of professional service contractors

    The work will involve around 10-20 hours work a week for 18 months (closer to 20 in the first few months), and will involve attending occasional meetings, including team meetings.

    Qualifications:

    We’re seeking someone who:

    • Is an advocate at heart, committed to environmental protection, social justice, and action on climate change
    • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, inspire and guide people from diverse backgrounds
    • Is flexible i.e. able to do longer hours during times of intensive work, such as when meeting grant deadlines
    • Has experience managing NFWF projects, including developing and managing budgets, grant reporting, and using the EasyGrant platform.
    • Has experience with watershed planning, wildlife conservation and GIS mapping
    • Has knowledge of the resources, agencies, coalitions, webinars that might be helpful to A2 members.
    • Is able to work independently without supervision and manage time efficiently.

    A Spanish speaker/writer is preferred but not essential.

    We have an expanding interest in climate migration and mobility and welcome candidates that have an interest or expertise on the issue.
