    Description

    The Marketing and Communications Manager is a full-time, non-exempt position at Real Change reporting to the Executive Director.

    The Marketing and Communications Manager works closely across departments and with community partners to elevate the visibility and impact of Real Change. This position develops and implements a growth-based Communications Plan. Additionally, this position is responsible for expanding sponsorship and advertising revenue, as well as nurturing external partnerships to support department goals.

    Primary Roles and Responsibilities

    Communications (50%)

    • Develop and manage annual Communications Plan, budget and calendar
    • Coordinate with department heads to ensure program priorities, calls to action and community engagement opportunities are represented externally
    • Increase visibility of Real Change through relevant digital and print channels, targeted engagement, public events and general community engagement
    • Update and maintain the website and social media platforms to stay current with ongoing Real Change events, programs and fundraising campaigns – highlighting work across the organization
    • Create targeted messaging and communications materials to promote program and organization priorities
    • Track, analyze and report metrics, audience development and user interactions across communications channels
    • Ensure communications tone and content is rooted in Real Change mission and values
    • Manage mailing lists and email correspondence, including producing monthly email newsletters
    • Actively participate in department meetings and events to develop digital and print content around all Real Change activities and projects
    • Produce graphics, videos, and photography for social media, email and print channels
    • Coordinate with external vendors for direct mailing campaigns, development merchandising and other relevant projects as needed
    • Cultivate relationships with prospective communications ambassadors and community partners to increase visibility of organization

    Marketing (30%)

    • Manage digital and newspaper advertising sales
    • Coordinate media sponsorships and other marketing-based partnerships to increase the visibility of the organization
    • Manage sponsorship outreach and communication, expanding sponsorship base to fund general operating and multiple projects (ECRG, Annual Anniversary, Vendor Vests) throughout the year
    • Develop and manage annual paid media plan and regular marketing campaigns to promote awareness of journalism, Vendor Program, advocacy and fundraising campaigns

    Events (10%)

    • Represent the organization at community-based events to promote its aims and objectives, and foster and enhance public understanding of the organization
    • Develop and manage public, community engagement events to increase public awareness of organization and programs
    • Support Real Change’s long running annual anniversary fundraiser
    • Develop and support other organization events as needed

    Other Duties (10%)

    • Train and oversee program volunteers, interns and vendor leaders
    • Supervise other staff as needed during community engagement events, communications campaigns and other relevant projects
    • Support operations of the Vendor Center as assigned, including truck unload and/or sales desk
    • Attend all staff and department-specific meetings as needed
    • Other duties as assigned

    • Ability to work in a hectic, busy, sometimes loud workspace
    • Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as required
