    Description

Jubilee has an opening for an experienced teacher who loves teaching, respects the voices and ideas of students, and is willing to learn with and from their students in a project-based environment which focuses on the arts and social justice. Classes are small; there are 10 to 12 students per class. Jubilee students accomplish great things: they are writing their own history textbook, have organized campaigns against gun violence and police brutality, have presented their children's campaign at a United Nations Conference on Small Arms, and have written, illustrated and published nine history books telling undertold stories. The atmosphere at Jubilee is collaborative, creative and celebratory.

Responsibilities include teaching Math, English Language Arts, Social Studies and Science. Afternoons are mostly taken up by the arts: violin lessons, dance classes, visual arts, yoga, singing and African drumming, all of which are taught by specialists.

Because Jubilee has a strong focus on community, teachers are encouraged to stay in close contact with parents, and to include them in trips and activities.
