    Job Description - Manhattan Coordinator

    FLSA Classification: Full-time, Exempt - Hybrid

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Objective: To do strategic outreach to buildings and communities to shift power from landlords to renters and build citywide tenant power.

    Hours of Operation:

    10:00 AM - 6:00 PM unless otherwise specified, including at least one evening a week and two weekend days per month.

    Essential Functions:

    Oversee outreach in Manhattan

    1. Run a total of twice monthly building outreach days with member leaders
      1. Once a month in Manhattan to the public (min. 200 flyers) and buildings (min. 200 doors) -
        1. Priority neighborhoods Community Board 7
    2. Weekly housing court outreach with volunteers
      1. Run twice a month outreach in the Manhattan housing court
    3. Once a year outreach event in Staten Island

    Chapter meetings

    1. Support with the Manhattan chapter and the Tenant Association-wide chapter meetings. This includes outreach, building leadership, facilitation, and logistical support.
    2. Fundraise and collect dues from the membership

    Engage tenants in advocacy and civic engagement activities with Met Council on Housing and Met Council Action to:

    1. Support tenants in participating in Met Council on Housing and Met Council Action meetings and actions.
      1. Conduct education about upcoming elections involving representation of their communities in NYC and NYS government
    2. Play a support role on campaigns that Chapters engaged with

    Share responsibility for Organization-wide tasks:

    1. Help write, edit, or translate weekly email blasts
    2. Contribute content ideas to Met Council’s Media channels - Tenant/ Inquilino, Radio Show “Housing Notebook,” and television show
    3. Encourage and support tenant leaders in taking leadership roles in the organization through training and opportunities such as speaking engagements, media interviews, public testimony, board service, etc.
    4. Participate actively in contributing ideas and creating shared organizational goals at regular staff meetings and retreats
    5. Update database
    6. Fundraise from both tenant associations, general membership, and foundations
    7. Assist at organizational-wide events such as fundraisers and outreach events

    Travel required: Occasional travel to Albany

    Physical Demands:

    • This role requires significant walking, standing, and transporting materials and equipment.
