    Description

    Capital City is looking for a dedicated and talented High School Math Summer School Teacher.

    This is a 5-week summer position, June 23 - July 25 with 1 planning day (June 18th) and 1 grading day allocated.

    Hours: 8:45am - 3:15pm

    The responsibilities of High School Summer School Teachers include:

    • Planning/teaching daily classes for 15-25 students taught in two time blocks.
    • Utilizing a workshop model to differentiate instruction and promote student engagement
    • Regularly assessing student progress and using data to plan for instruction
    • Meeting and planning at least twice with the summer school principal
    • Supporting students with completing projects and meeting passage requirements of course
    • Completing progress reports mid-way and at the end of the summer

    Capital City seeks to employ experienced, credentialed teachers. Ideal candidates have a Master’s degree and 3+ years of full-time teaching experience.

    Minimum required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and at least one of the following:

    • A major in education or field of instruction or equivalent 30 semester hours of credit
    • District of Columbia teaching license in field of instruction
    • Two years of verifiable teaching experience as a teacher of record
    • One year as a support teacher at Capital City and enrollment in a teacher education or certification program

    In addition to the above requirements, teachers must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check and a negative TB test.
