    Description

    The Yiddish Book Center seeks a Membership/Visitors Center Assistant to join our dynamic non-profit, cultural organization located in Amherst, MA. Membership responsibilities involve supporting the Center’s international network of 20,000 members: responding to inquiries, processing donations, assisting with our online and offline fundraising efforts, and maintaining information in our constituent database. This position also provides public-facing and administrative support for our Visitor Services team, working with docents with museum admissions, visitor orientation, assisting with front desk museum store sales, and other visitor services tasks.

    Responsibilities include:

      • Assist with constituent and gift entry, updates, and report generation in Raiser's Edge NXT, and other constituent databases.
      • Assist with mail processing and batching of donations
      • Provide support for all aspects of the Visitor Center and Visitor Services to include administrative tasks, working with front desk sales systems, occasional docent shifts as needed.
      • Assist with preparations and logistics for membership, public programs and special events
      • Assist with sales and related activities in the Center’s museum store.
      • Prepare and process outgoing mail (information packets, new member packets, letters, etc.).
      • Answer multi-line phone system, forwarding calls as needed, and responding to donor inquiries.
      • Some Sunday work and evening work required.

    Qualifications:

      • Excellent written and oral communication skills
      • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
      • Sense of humor, entrepreneurial spirit, flexibility and ability to work in a team
      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
      • Familiarity with computer applications, comfort working with databases
      • Experience and comfort in working with the public
      • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge NXT or other fundraising or e-communications software a plus
