    Position Overview

    The Welcoming Center is looking to hire a Project Coordinator to assist in the facilitation of a new pilot program, Breaking Bread, Breaking Barriers. This role will report directly to the President & CEO of The Welcoming Center, but will collaborate closely with our Community Leadership team. This program is designed as a way to connect immigrants who have settled in Philadelphia with Philadelphia’s native residents and participate in dialogue around food to understand what we all have in common. Through the art of cooking, we hope to create conversations that can help strengthen our neighborhoods & begin conversations about citizenship, and what that means. While the program is fully developed, the implementation of events is what this position will focus on.

    This position will start out as Part-Time (up to 15 hours per week) but does have the opportunity to become Full-Time in the future and is contingent upon funding as well as performance of the project. Included below, but not limited to, are ideal responsibilities we expect candidates to exhibit to help bring this program together. While working through the project, additional tasks may be assigned as needed

    Community Outreach

    • Finding viable venues to host events
    • Sourcing chefs of various backgrounds
    • Coordinating Community Partners to solicit with participants

    Media Relations

    • Preparing Senior Leadership with talking points for any potential media engagement
    • Working in tandem with the Communications Team on strategic opportunities that would benefit the outcome of the project

    Project Management

    • Ensuring necessary licenses or permits are finalized
    • Executing the event with dates, locations, staffing, and necessary volunteers
    • Communications to all necessary information to both
    • Ensure all budgets are clearly adhered to
    • Coordinate any required meetings, prepare agendas & document meetings.

    Position Skills:

    • Exceptional logistic skills
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks &
    • Strong organizational & time management skills
    • Detail-oriented with clear & attainable timelines.
    • Ability to work collaboratively & manage stakeholder expectations.
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills

    Education & Attributes:

    • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Project Management or working with the public
    • Bachelor’s degree in project management, or a related field
    • Prior Non-Profit experience recommended but not required.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Compensation for this role is between $20 and $25 and will be based on factors such as skills & experience. As a Part-time employee, you are entitled to participate in our Commuter Benefit Program & Employee Assistance Program.
