    Description

    Objective:

    The Community Resource Coordinator provides direct and indirect service outreach on public benefits like SNAP and WIC, as well as other available area resources, to neighbors who may be experiencing food insecurity in The Friendship Center’s northwest Chicago service area.

    Essential Functions:

    • Provides benefits program outreach and application assistance to clients onsite and at partner organizations and community events, with follow up activity as appropriate
    • Establishes and builds relationships with nontraditional outreach partners, such as hospitals and colleges
    • Disseminates informational handouts about or referrals to other relevant, available community benefits
    • Takes a proactive approach in engaging neighbors utilizing the pantry about the 1:1 services we offer with SNAP and Medicaid enrollment as well as knowledge about other low cost or free social services.
    • Maintain knowledge and expertise in eligibility, enrollment, and program specifications of the SNAP and similar public benefits initiatives
    • Achieves outlined KPIs for site statistics and client interactions, from determination of program and income eligibility requirements to successful connection of qualified individuals to eligible resources.
    • Connect our neighbors with area subject matter experts to present on skills and programs helpful to our neighbors as they work to improve their economic circumstances.
    • Be a community champion for the work at TFC, actively looking for ways to engage the general public in supporting the work and connecting them to the mission.
    • Utilizes key tools like Unite Us, FindHelp, and community partners to advertise services and find clients seeking assistance.
    • Be available in person during pantry open hours Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
    • Other duties as directed by supervisor

    Secondary Functions:

    • Attend all necessary trainings according to Friendship Center policies
    • Attend team meetings as requested
    • Table at community events as needed

    Level of Language Proficiency
