    The Senior Content Writer plays a key role in the Communications and Marketing team by creating compelling content that drives engagement and advances Juilliard’s mission. This role requires a dynamic storyteller with a strong understanding of how to adapt content for various platforms, including web, social media, email campaigns, video, and print. The ideal candidate is both a creative writer and a strategic thinker, capable of crafting narrative-driven content as well as marketing copy that engages and resonates with a diverse audience, including alumni, current students, donors, and performing arts enthusiasts.

    The Senior Content Writer will partner closely with cross-functional teams to bring fresh, innovative ideas to the table and be hands-on in writing content that aligns with our institutional goals and speaks authentically to our community.

    Candidates should provide a resume and cover letter, as well as 2–3 recent writing samples (ideally spanning different media).

    The annual salary is $85K to $90K, based on experience, skillset, and qualifications. This role reports to the Senior Director, Content Strategy.

    Role Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Content Creation: Write high-quality content across both print and digital channels, ensuring alignment with Juilliard’s voice and tone. Work closely with the Senior Director of Content Strategy to produce and refine content as well as provide strategic thinking on institutional campaigns and announcements. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality, engaging materials across platforms.
    • Cross-Platform Storytelling: Craft versatile content that adapts seamlessly to different audiences, formats, and platforms by tailoring tone and messaging. While a digital-first approach is essential, the ideal candidate can move fluidly across channels, from marketing email copy and concise social posts to longform print articles, artist Q&As, and alumni-focused appeals.
    • Brand Consistency: Ensure all content reflects Juilliard’s mission, values, and voice while maintaining consistency across all touchpoints.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 5 years of commensurate experience
    • Exceptional writing skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to work both quickly and accurately.
    • Demonstrated expertise in writing and optimizing content for digital channels, including a strong understanding of SEO, content marketing, and social media best practices.
    • Proven track record of crafting engaging, audience-centric narratives that connect emotionally and drive action.
    • Ability to identify and innovatively meet the logistical needs of multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and contributing ideas in brainstorming sessions while remaining open to feedback.
    • Availability to work select nights and weekends
    • Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style

    Preferred Background:

    • Deep knowledge of the performing arts is very beneficial.
    • Familiarity with content management systems, social media platforms, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
    • Ability to work in fast-paced, flexible setting and handle a large volume of work
    • Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills
