Location: The Allen-Stevenson School, New York, NY

Schedule: Part-Time, Wednesdays and Fridays, 7:45–8:30 AM

Start Date: 9/10/25

Overview:

The Allen-Stevenson School, an esteemed K–8 boys’ school in New York City, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Wind Ensemble Teacher/Conductor to lead our 4th and 5th-grade wind ensemble. This part-time role is ideal for an educator passionate about early instrumental instruction and ensemble leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and conduct engaging ensemble rehearsals twice weekly, focusing on foundational ensemble skills and musicianship.
• Select an age-appropriate repertoire that aligns with students’ skill levels and promotes musical growth.
• Collaborate with the music department to coordinate performances and integrate ensemble activities into the broader music curriculum.
• Provide constructive feedback to students, fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and upcoming performances.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Performance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Proficiency in wind instruments and percussion, with a strong understanding of ensemble pedagogy for young learners.
• Previous experience teaching elementary or middle school students in a group setting.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate young musicians, cultivating a love for music and ensemble performance.

Salary/Compensation: $150/hour
