    Description

Co-Executive Director, Operations (Contract, up to 40 hours/month)

The Tango Therapy Project (TTP) is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit whose mission is to provide therapeutic benefit, improve quality of life, spark joy, and promote social connection through Argentine tango. In our inaugural year of programming, we piloted an adapted tango program for people with Parkinson's disease in Greater Philadelphia with enthusiastic feedback. We aim to support dignity, mobility, and community by sharing tango with people who might not otherwise experience its unique benefits, including seniors, individuals with Parkinson’s, and people with other motor and neurologic disorders. We are working toward a second year of dance programming and looking to expand our team.

We are currently seeking a Co-Executive Director, Operations, to join our leadership team in a collaborative co-directorship model and to help position the organization for sustained growth. Working closely with the Co-Executive Director, Programming & Research, this role provides vision and leadership with a specific focus on operations, development, and communications.

    About the Role

We are looking for a strategic, dynamic, and independent operations professional who is passionate about the intersection of arts, health, and community. You are energized by the prospect of helping to build a small nonprofit up from the ground floor—fostering partnerships, stewarding resources, and laying the groundwork to support sustainable growth. You are equally comfortable writing grants, managing systems, and representing the organization to funders, partners, and the public.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operations & Communications

    • Serve as the first point of contact for external engagement
    • Maintain internal systems for communication, documentation, and knowledge management (e.g., Google Drive, email, website, and social media)
    • Manage contracts for TTP consultants in coordination with the Board

    Finance & Budgeting

    • Oversee financial systems and manage all financial transactions in collaboration with the Board Treasurer
    • Develop and monitor annual budgets and support long-range financial planning
    • Oversee and manage all fiscal reporting and compliance

    Development & Fundraising

    • Conduct prospect research, write grant proposals and reports, and maintain funder relationships
    • Develop and manage a robust individual giving program, including donor outreach, acknowledgments, and donor database management
    • Collaborate with the Board to plan and execute fundraising events

    Shared Leadership Duties

As Co-Executive Directors, both leaders are jointly responsible for:

    • Organizational strategy and planning
    • Day-to-day operations and decision-making
    • Mutual support and regular check-ins
    • Representing TTP to the public, partners, and funders

    What We’re Looking For

    • 5+ years in nonprofit operations and development, or organizational leadership
    • Excellent communication, planning, and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to work independently and strength in multi-tasking and workload prioritization, with strong attention to accuracy and detail
    • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, and QuickBooks; including financial management best practices
    • Positive and creative attitude, and comfort with embracing challenges, developing/learning new administrative and fiscal systems and procedures as needed
    • Ability to travel without restriction throughout the greater Philadelphia region
    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-centered leadership
    • Familiarity and experience with arts-in-health, movement-based therapy, or disability inclusion is preferred

    Time Commitment

This is a part-time contract position, requiring up to 40 hours per month, with flexible scheduling. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be needed for events or meetings. The contract may be extended contingent on funding.

    Compensation

The compensation is $50/hr and is paid monthly.
