    About Us:

    The District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund is a non-profit labor-management partnership committed to providing education, workforce development, and career advancement opportunities in the healthcare and human services sectors. We serve a diverse community of adult learners, workers, and employers across the Philadelphia region.

    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Accountant with experience in non-profit accounting, including ERISA and/or labor-management environments. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of grant and contract accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to financial integrity and operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

    Monitor and manage grant and contract funding, including budgeting, invoicing, reporting, and compliance with federal, state, and private funding guidelines.

    Support annual audits, including the preparation of schedules and interaction with external auditors.

    Assist in the development and monitoring of organizational and program budgets.

    Ensure compliance with ERISA regulations and reporting requirements, where applicable.

    Collaborate closely with program and administrative staff to align financial and programmatic objectives.

    Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and financial operations.

    Qualifications:

    CPA required.

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

    Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit, labor-management, or ERISA-regulated environment.

    Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles.

    Experience with grant and contract compliance and reporting (federal, state, or private funding).

    Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar), and Microsoft Excel.

    Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid, collaborative work environment.

    Work Schedule & Environment:

    This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with in-office presence required at our Philadelphia headquarters several days per week. Flexibility is available based on organizational needs.
