Roberta’s House is a family grief support center that provides trauma-informed care and healing services to children, families, and communities impacted by death, trauma, and violence. We are seeking a Community Engagement Survivor Advocate (CESA) to play a dual role—providing direct case management services to survivors of homicide while spearheading strategic outreach and community partnership efforts as part of our Homicide Transformation Project and Rays of Hope programs.

    Key Responsibilities

    Survivor Advocacy

    • Conduct timely outreach (within 24–48 hours) to families and individuals impacted by homicide
    • Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, in-home visits, and grief support services
    • Maintain accurate case notes and service documentation in Penelope by Athena database
    • Facilitate survivor participation in peer support groups and RH programming
    • Serve as liaison to local, state, and federal victim service agencies
    • Identify resources and make referrals to support client recovery
    • Collaborate with internal staff on case management meetings and reports

    Community Engagement & Partnership Building

    • Represent Roberta’s House at community events and public forums
    • Cultivate new relationships with schools, churches, nonprofits, and civic groups
    • Execute outreach campaigns and events to raise awareness about grief as a public health issue
    • Develop and implement strategies that activate community voices and reduce service gaps
    • Lead school-based grief response activities following incidents of community violence
    • Increase volunteerism and community participation in RH programs
    • Document outcomes and contribute to monthly engagement reports

    What You Bring

    • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, public health, or a related field (equivalent experience considered)
    • 2–4 years of experience in case management, victim advocacy, or community engagement
    • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, grief services, or victim/survivor-centered programming
    • Strong interpersonal and cultural humility skills; able to work compassionately with bereaved families
    • Proven ability to initiate partnerships and maintain long-term stakeholder relationships
    • Comfort working in school, community, and home-based settings
    • Solid organizational and time management skills; experience in Microsoft 365 and CRM systems
    • Bilingual or multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply

    Core Competencies

    • Commitment to equity, empathy, and trauma-informed practices
    • Passion for direct service and systemic change
    • Ability to lead community-based initiatives and represent RH’s mission with authenticity
    • Flexibility to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, emotionally complex environments.
