    Description

    The Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WCAAP) is hiring for an Executive Director (0.8- 1.0 FTE) to facilitate strategic planning and oversee operations for WCAAP. In this role you will manage staff, provide program support to volunteer board, and oversee strategic vision. You will foster and maintain productive relationships with state agencies, elected officials, and partner organizations in support of WCAAP mission to advocate for Washington’s children, families and pediatricians. Strong emphasis on supporting equitable healthcare, building, and maintaining trust in the medical home and strengthening partnerships with allied stakeholders.

We work closely with our pediatric members and community partners, guided by WCAAP’s mission to champion the health and well-being of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, and partnership.     This position is full-time, working remotely but must be available to work in Bellevue, WA as often as once a week. WCAAP requires that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, health administration, public health, social work, or related or equivalent education/experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience and success in organizational leadership and management
    • Past experience in grant and budget management
    • Demonstrated passion for child advocacy and improving child health

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree in business, public administration, health administration, public health, social work, or related field, or equivalent combination of education / experience including internal and external accountabilities
    • MD, DO, and other healthcare providers with relevant experience are encouraged to apply
    • Experience with organizational decision-making processes
    • Experience with Lean improvement preferred

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    The primary job responsibilities and accountabilities listed below represent work performed by this position and are not all-inclusive.

    • Strategic planning and implementation in collaboration with the Board. Implement strategies and activities to align with and fulfill Chapter strategic plan. Mobilize energy and commitment to plan by communicating rationale, vision, progress, and results. Monitor and adjust strategies as needed in response to changing context.
    • Manage and support employees and contract staff including ensure responsibilities are met and that they are engaged. Provide timely and honest confirming and corrective performance feedback. Conduct thorough and timely performance evaluations. Delegate appropriately to share responsibility and authority.
    • Budgeting and accounting: Develop and monitor budget in collaboration with Chapter Treasurer, Chapter President, CFO/Bookkeeper and Executive Committee when necessary.
    • Maintain financial information, working with CFO/CPA on tax returns and audits, monitoring budgets, etc.
    • In close partnership with staff, manage membership support, development and database/dues.
    • In partnership with trustees, ensure financial sustainability of chapter in areas of strategic focus. Provide grant writing, seeking, tracking, reporting, and general oversight.
    • Lead policy development and collaboration with other child advocacy groups and state agencies.
    • Foster, cultivate, and sustain productive relationships with key stakeholders in statewide and national communities. Liaison with AAP, Washington state child health coalitions, health care organizations, and advocacy groups as necessary and represent WCAAP at necessary meetings.
    • Enforce rules, regulations, management of elections, review of bylaws, and historical record.
    • Attend national AAP functions with Chapter President and VP: Annual Leadership Conference.
    • Support successful engagement of WCAAP trustees and members. Maintain active contact with WCAAP committees, following-up on activities, and assist in the undertaking of projects.
    • Assure WCAAP leadership is well informed. Report regularly to Chapter President and Executive Committee. Communicate consistently, frequently, and clearly.
    • Other duties, tasks and assignments as designated by leadership.
