    Description

    Overview:

    The Finance Director plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity and sustainability of New Endeavors by Women. As the sole finance staff member, this position collaborates closely with and reports directly to the Executive Director. The Finance Director oversees all financial operations, including bookkeeping, budgeting, grants management, financial reporting, and compliance with government regulations in a manner which reflects the mission, philosophy and policies of New Endeavors by Women.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Management:

      • Develop and oversee the annual budget in collaboration with the Executive Director.
      • Monitor cash flow and financial performance to ensure the organization's short- and long-term fiscal health and sustainability.
      • Implement financial policies and procedures to maintain internal controls and accountability.

    Bookkeeping & Accounting:

      • Manage all day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and maintaining the general ledger.
      • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and invoicing.
      • Administer payroll, ensuring compliance with tax and benefits regulations.
      • Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audits, grants, and board reporting.

    Grants Management:

      • Manage the financial aspects of government and private grants, including budget preparation, financial reporting, and compliance.
      • Ensure timely submission of monthly grant reports and maintain accurate records of grant expenditures.

    Financial Reporting and Analysis:

      • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports for the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and funders.
      • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning efforts.

    Audit and Compliance:

      • Coordinate annual audits and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and auditing standards.
      • Serve as the primary contact for auditors and oversee audit preparation and response.

    Board and Executive Director Support:

      • Present financial reports and updates to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.
      • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic discussions and decision-making by the Executive Director and Board.

    Qualifications:

      • Proven experience (5+ years) in nonprofit financial management, preferably in an organization receiving government grants.
      • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, bookkeeping best practices, and grant management.
      • Experience with QuickBooks, Bill.com, and other accounting software, as well as strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
