    Description

    • Highly organized and professional, able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively while providing services in multiple locations
    • Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate, delegate and coach staff
    • Proven understanding of financial budgeting and cost control
    • At least 2 years' experience in overseeing restaurant operations
    • Worked, volunteered or has lived experience with our student demographic
    • Trained in trauma-informed care (if no formal training, will go through training within first 60 days)
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
    • Pass background check criteria
    • Current Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification

    The General Manager oversees the successful day-to-day operations of two cafes. They ensure students follow the programming and customers are warmly welcomed and well taken care of. The General Manager sets the tone for the cafes and ensures a mission-based culture which measures its success through student accomplishments. This job is much more than managing two cafes—it requires vision and leadership,

    collaboration with a varied team of staff, volunteers, community and Board members,

    trains young people in their first ever job with skilled professionals. We offer our

    students support from our team of social workers so you will not be alone in providing

    new skills to young people who need powerful role models.The GM understands the complexity of our mixed operations/student programming model and leads the team accordingly

    • most importantly by modeling and mentoring.
