    Position Summary

    A Motogo Coach teaches, coaches, and mentors Motogo students, teaching them confidence and skill building through a drastically different avenue....building motorcycles.

    YOU DO NOT NEED TO KNOW HOW TO BUILD A MOTORCYLE TO APPLY! Don't worry, we can teach a teacher to build a motorcycle, and you'll enjoy it!

    Some courses are taught at partner schools, and some courses are taught at the Motogo headquarters.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Knows and upholds Motogo values of Equity, Working with Your Hands, Self-confidence, Authenticity, and Community.
    • Teaches, coaches, and mentors Motogo students. Provides all classroom management.
    • Administers pre- and post-course assessments.
    • Answers student questions and facilitates problem solving and self-discovery. Assists students with the build of the full motorcycle, motorcycle engine, or minibike engines.
    • Checks attendance. Completes Coach's log of daily teaching activity outcomes and progress.
    • Prepares supplies and materials for program. Sets up and cleans up the classroom.
    • Collects t-shirt sizes and distributes materials for students to keep.
    • Takes photos for social media posts.
    • Communicates with the school point person and Motogo Program Manager prior to beginning of program.
    • Checks final assembly of engines and motorcycles. Prepares motorcycles and engines for the next program.
    • Compiles assessment data into report form so that Motogo and school relationship manager can assess program effectiveness.
    • Frequent local travel by personal vehicle.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Technical Expertise

    • Experience teaching or coaching young people between the ages of 13 and 18 is HIGHLY preferred.
    • Experience using hand tools...hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills....is a bonus but the willingness to learn to use them is more important.
    • Ability to read and use manuals, instructions, and diagrams is required.
    • Eagerness to learn is more important than technical knowledge.
    • A love of tinkering
    • Proficiency in Google Suite would be great, but ability to learn is required

    Requirements

    • Current Ohio teaching license or 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience preferred
    • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that is subject to change based on programs. Work hours are generally Mondays to Saturday from 8:00am to 4:30pm with occasional Saturday mornings. Our full time work week is 35 hours.

    • The work environment involves the everyday risks or discomforts of working in a shop or school environment, which includes the need for general safe workplace practices with hand and power tools, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of all fire and safety regulations.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
    • The work environment has eye hazards and safety glasses are required.
    • This position is performed on-site at schools, community centers, and other public spaces as well as within Motogo facilities.
    • Lift objects of at least 40 pounds and carry them short distances (20 feet or less).

    Employment Contingencies

    • Pass BCI and FBI background checks.
    • Complete trauma-informed care and VIRTUS training.
    • Maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
    • Ability to lift 40 pounds and work in a dynamic shop environment.
