    Description

    Position Overview:

PNPP is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Deputy Director to help shape the next chapter of our organizational growth. This is a unique opportunity to help build the internal systems of a deeply-rooted but small nonprofit as it scales its impact city-wide. In close collaboration with the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will lead fundraising implementation, manage financial and administrative operations, and help ensure the organization’s long-term stability and effectiveness.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Fundraising & Development Implementation

    • Execute and refine PNPP’s new fundraising plan, including individual donor campaigns, business sponsorships, and foundation/grant support.
    • Cultivate and manage donor relationships; maintain donor database and oversee acknowledgments and stewardship efforts.

    Grants Management & Compliance

    • Manage the full life cycle of grants—from applications and reporting to compliance tracking and documentation.
    • Support administration of subcontracts for collaborative, multi-partner grant projects.

    Finance & Operations

    • Co-lead budget development (annual operating budget ~$500,000), monitor financial performance, and oversee cash flow management.
    • Partner with bookkeeping and accounting consultants to ensure accurate financial records and timely reporting.

    HR & Personnel Management

    • Support hiring, onboarding, and personnel management; oversee compliance with employment policies and practices.
    • Help foster an inclusive and supportive workplace culture for PNPP’s small but growing team.

    Board & Organizational Support

    • Coordinate with the Board of Directors on governance, meeting preparation, and strategic planning processes.
    • Support development of internal systems and policies that promote long-term organizational sustainability.

    Desired Skills & Experience:

    Minimum requirements:

    • At least 3 years of relevant experience in nonprofit operations, development, and/or administration
    • Strong organizational, financial, and project management skills and comfort navigating overlapping projects and deadlines
    • Strong writing skills and experience with outward-facing organizational communications
    • Experience using Google Workspace (including Google Docs and Google Sheets)
    • Commitment to values of collaboration and shared ownership—and an interest in embedding those values at every level of organizational operations
    • Sharp to “in-the-weeds” detail paired with creative & strategic “big-picture” thinking
    • A commitment to PNPP’s mission and an interest in urban forestry & environmental justice

Our ideal candidate would also have:

    • Experience using donor databases (e.g., Little Green Light or similar)
    • Experience using QuickBooks
    • Experience writing grant proposals
    • Experience growing a small nonprofit

If many but not all of these skills and qualities apply to you and you’re excited about this opportunity, please still consider applying!

To apply, submit a resume and written statement (one page maximum) addressing your interest in this position.
