    Position Summary

    The Director of Development and Alumni Engagement will lead Camp Nebagamon’s fundraising and alumni-engagement efforts in conjunction with the Development and Alumni Engagement Committee of the Board of Directors and Camp Director. The person in this role will serve as the main point of contact for donors and alumni through annual giving and major campaigns, ongoing relationship stewardship, and legacy and planned giving, as well as special alumni events. An integral member of the year-round staff, this position will manage a robust communications and stewardship calendar that increases engagement with and philanthropic commitment of the Camp Family. The position may require travel to reunions, events, and Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin.

    The successful candidate for this position will be passionate about building and stewarding relationships, have exceptional project management skills, be an adept communicator, and embody a deep commitment to building a sustainable future for Camp Nebagamon.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising and Donor Development

    • Manage annual giving to reach or exceed revenue goals.
    • Staff and support the Development and Alumni Engagement Committee of the Board of Directors. Prepare written development reports for Board meetings.
    • Support Camp Directors and Board in the execution of a major gifts solicitation
    • Plan to reach or exceed the remaining $1.5 million of the $10 million Keeping the Fires Burning campaign. The campaign was launched in 2021 to purchase Camp and secure its future by setting up a fund for urgent, unplanned needs.
    • Oversee timely recording of donations and acknowledgement letters to donors.
    • Produce compelling collateral materials, including but not limited to annual reports, individual giving correspondence, and appeals.
    • Manage and improve donor records and data management.
    • Manage and recruit all development volunteers as well as fundraising events.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with all donors, grow Camp Nebagamon’s individual donor base, reengage lapsed donors, and identify new prospects.
    • Cultivate and grow relationships with foundations and corporations, both local and national, for sponsorships and grants.
    • Explore and help guide the creation of a legacy and planned giving program.
    • Write proposals to donors and foundations requesting contributions.

    Alumni Engagement

    • Develop and oversee a multi-platform plan for alumni engagement that deepens relationships, broadens the Camp Family, and supports the long-term strategic goals.
    • Oversee the successful execution of virtual and in-person special events and alumni-engagement opportunities.
    • Write and coordinate production of alumni-engagement materials.
    • Provide support to volunteers in regional alumni groups to ensure successful events.
    • Publicize camp events and work with alumni to increase attendance at events.
    • Develop and implement strategies for life-long engagement of campers, families, staff and donors.
    • Advise Camp Directors and Board on social media efforts, website, and use and development of communications tools.
    • Create and maintain donor stewardship and communications calendar.
