    Description

    The Executive Director will work with the Director of the Skadden Fellowship Program, the Skadden partners on the Advisory Committee, and the Foundation's paralegal coordinator to run all aspects of the Skadden Fellowship Program. This includes the annual selection process, visiting law schools nationwide, making presentations about the Fellowship Program, interviewing Fellowship candidates, preparing for the annual Selection Trustees' meeting, maintaining the network of current and former Fellows, coordinating regional reunion events, planning and executing the annual Fellows symposium in NYC, planning webinars, social media outreach, and preparing the monthly newsletter.

      • Assists in strategic planning of the program
      • Involved in each step of the Fellowship selection process
      • Participates in the interviewing and selection of all applicants in Skadden offices throughout the US (requires travel to conduct all in-person interviews)
      • Reviews and summarizes applications of all finalists in preparation for Committee review
      • Communicates with potential applicants to ensure that their applications stay within the Foundation's guidelines
      • Serves as a point person for applicant inquiries, guides applicants through the application process and requirements
      • Assists applicants with assessing potential projects by providing guidelines and connecting them with current and prior Fellows
      • As the Foundation’s representative at law schools, makes presentations to students about the Foundation, develops and maintains relationship with public interest placement officers and law students (requires regular travel to law schools for informational sessions and panels)
      • Develops and maintains relationships with legal services organizations and other nonprofit partners/advisors to the Fellowship Program (requires periodic travel)
      • Maintains relationships with Skadden's pro bono counsel and coordinators, and the firm's pro bono program
      • Coordinates Flom Incubator Grant requests, writing stipend requests and conference and training requests
      • Plans and coordinates all Fellowship Foundation programming for current and former Fellows, including annual symposium, regional reunions, webinars, and alumni networking events (requires periodic travel)
      • Ensures Foundation’s effectiveness by maintaining current knowledge of important issues and events to ensure that the Foundation's grantees reflect political and judicial issues which could impact it

    QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor's Degree required; JD Degree preferred
      • Minimum of 7 years of non-profit experience required
      • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to function collegially as part of a team
      • Detail-oriented
      • Strong organizational skills
      • Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks
      • Demonstrated ability to make decisions by reliably thinking critically at decision points and reaching sound conclusions
      • Strong presentation skills, ability to reflect self-confidence, diplomacy, and professionalism
      • Travel required

    The position is based in New York City.

    The salary range for this position is $220,000 - $250,000. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.
