    Foundation and Donor Relationship Manager

    Contribute to the establishment and fulfillment of the agency’s development goals. Support the cultivation,

    solicitation and stewardship of foundation grants as well as managing a portfolio of individual

    and corporate donors.

    REPORTS TO: Director of Development

    HOURS: Full time - 36 hours per week. Work week is primarily Monday through Thursday or Monday – Friday (individual discretion). Occasional evening and weekend commitments.

    COMPENSATION: $78,000 - $90,000 salary exempt. Salary based on experience

    LOCATION: Hybrid – office & remote. Must have a quiet confidential workspace while working remotely.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Foundation Relationship Management and Grant Writing (50%)

    • Develop and lead the grant strategy and maintain and implement an annual grant calendar.
    • Research and identify foundation and corporate foundation funding opportunities.
    • Prepare proposals, cover letters and relevant attachments for identified funders ensuring all proposal guidelines are met.
    • Consult with New Beginnings Executive, Development, and Program Directors and others as needed to ensure proposals are responding to current program needs, and the quality and accuracy of proposal related program information and data.
    • Write and submit grant reports to foundation funders as required.
    • Cultivate and steward foundations and corporate foundations as appropriate
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director and the Director of Development, on stewarding donors who give through family foundations and Donor Advised Funds.
    • Track all actions in the donor database, and completely timely and accurate contact reports following interactions with foundations.

    Donor Relationship Management (40%)

    • Manage a portfolio up to 75 (50-75) current and prospective mid-level individual donors, hope network donors, and corporate donors and conduct regular, ongoing, one-on-one cultivation, solicitation and stewardship meetings with donors and prospects.
    • Develop and implement a proactive strategy for promoting and growing the Hope Network monthly giving program.
    • Collaborate with the Community Engagement Coordinator to expand corporate connections, engagement, trainings and opportunities to expand connections in the community including sponsorship opportunities.
    • Track all actions in the donor database, and complete timely and accurate contact reports following interactions with companies.
    • Collaborate with the Development Director for prospects and potential donors that have the capacity to be major donors.
    • Attend donor strategy meetings in collaboration with the Development Director to build stronger relationships with the donor community.
    • Use For Impact tools of engagement, planning, and strategies for cultivating and solicitation.
    • Conduct meetings with donors in portfolios to enhance relationships (cultivation), qualify, solicit, and steward.

    Department Support (5%)

    • Collaborate with the Development Director and the Annual Fund and Donor Communications Manager on the creation of an annual development plan, setting foundation (grant and family) goals, , tracking progress throughout the year and course correcting as needed to ensure goals are met or exceeded.
    • Collaborate with the Annual Fund and Donor Communications Manager on print and electronic communications as appropriate.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure our development efforts advance agency equity goals.

    Other (5%)

    • Participate in staff meetings, planning days and agency training.
    • Participate in the agency committee work as desired and appropriate.
    • Participate in professional fundraising training opportunities.
    • Provide hands-on assistance as needed immediately before, during, and after signature fundraising events.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Development Director or the Executive Director.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A willingness to learn about and promote equity and social justice within and outside of New Beginnings.
    • Requires the ability to write with passion, eloquence and efficiency
    • Requires a minimum of 3 years previous experience in grant writing and managing a grant calendar and budget.
    • Strong relationship building skills required.This includes previous success in donor relations work including discovery, cultivation, and solicitation.
    • Requires excellent verbal communication skills; ability to think strategically and communicate graciously with diverse people,
    • A working knowledge of MS Office products, especially Word and Excel
    • The ability to work well, and provide leadership, as part of a team; demonstrated success in handling a variety of tasks and project management
    • Requires a dependable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license with proof of insurance. Must be open and willing for some travel (almost exclusively in Washington State) to meet donors, corporations, and community members.

    Desirable:

    • Working knowledge of Bloomerang

    Physical Requirements

    Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
