The Palau International Coral Reef Center is searching for a qualified candidate to fill the role of a Social Science Researcher, responsible to lead on designing and implementing socioeconomic assessments and relevant studies to support the Center’s scientific monitoring program.
The Social Science Researcher will coordinate organizational and scientific capabilities surrounding social science data with relevant personnel, partners, and collaborators. The position will utilize current theoretical and applied social science models, methods, and data to evaluate changes in social dynamics, cultural, and behavioral responses to inform management and policy. Develop briefings, reports and recommendations in support of relevant monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and assist with the communication of these to management, partners, communities and relevant stakeholders. Support research efforts by focusing on communicating highly technical information, including social and biological science data to diverse audiences that may include individuals not as well versed in the various technical aspects of the science. The position will develop an annual work plan that prioritizes and guides implementation of activities.
This position requires at a minimum, a Master's degree in one of the Social Science fields (e.g., anthropology, sociology, geography, political science, rural or community development, economics, psychology, human dimensions of natural resources) or related field.
