    ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

    Greater Baybrook Alliance (GBA) is a community development organization whose mission is to act as a catalyst and conduit for equitable development and reinvestment in the Brooklyn, Brooklyn Park, and Curtis Bay neighborhoods and empower our residents to strengthen the Baybrook community. Guided by the 2016 Greater Baybrook Vision and Action Plan, we develop and implement highly-visible capital improvement projects to drive equitable community revitalization. Our work supports commercial revitalization, affordable housing development, increased access to public parks and green spaces, and public safety. Examples of this include coordinating public art installations, supporting community-led beautification projects, and rehabilitating formerly vacant buildings into thriving community assets.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Greater Baybrook Alliance is seeking a Development Manager to support the organization’s programmatic and operational growth. The Development Manager will be involved in all aspects of GBA’s fundraising, under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer. Responsibilities include grant writing, grant reporting, and project management. The Manager must have a passion for community-driven neighborhood revitalization, and understand the importance of team collaboration and working with each team member to their strengths.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Fundraising

    • Conduct comprehensive research into grant opportunities and determine organizational fit.
    • Maintain GBA’s grant database, tracking deliverables, documentation, and deadlines for GBA’s portfolio of grants (between 50-100 at any given time).
    • Implement each step of GBA’s grant application and reporting process:
      • Gather qualitative and quantitative data;
      • Format and draft narrative;
      • Work with program staff to review, edit, and finalize narrative;
      • Obtain final approval from Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer; and
      • Submit final, approved narrative and accompanying budgets, financial reports, and/or attachments.
    • Establish internal target dates for each step of the above process and project manage the relevant GBA staff to ensure target dates are met.
    • Assist in the development of tools for ongoing data tracking and maintenance for reporting purposes; support the COO in refinement of grant processes and procedures.
    • Act as the internal and external main point of contact for grant deliverables and requirements.
    • Collaborate with GBA program staff to develop project plans that ensure successful grant implementation and execution of deliverables.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with current and prospective funders.

    Other

    • Conduct internal education to help staff in identifying projects eligible for or requiring grant funding, how grant funding fits within organizational budget, and how to develop project and program work plans that are grant-ready.
    • Work with staff to ensure they are informed of the requirements of grant contracts and assist in advising on how best to navigate any necessary changes through communication with funders.
    • Prepare quarterly fundraising reports for the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.
    • Attend and support programmatic and fundraising events.
    • Support the Chief Operating Officer in implementing an organizational-wide deliverables tracker.
    • Other administrative duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years experience working in the nonprofit sector; equivalent experience may substitute for education.
    • Previous success with grant writing and management
    • Exceptional writing skills, strong organizational and verbal communication skills;
    • A self-starter who is comfortable developing administrative systems and coordinating activities with staff, Board, and volunteers;
    • A highly-motivated, detail-oriented, multi-tasker with a can-do attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with a small team;
    • Proficiency in GoogleWorkspace including Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and Google Calendar required; experience with Airtable and SmallPDF strongly preferred;
    • Ability to solve problems and be self-directed, anticipating opportunities and challenges before they arise and proactively tackling those issues with minimal supervision; exercise considerable initiative, discretion and judgment in executing the functions of the job.

    WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION

    This is a full-time position. GBA has a hybrid work schedule, administrative staff are permitted to work from home Mondays and Wednesdays.

    COMPENSATION

    Compensation for this position is reflective of the candidate's qualifications and experience; the salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000. GBA’s Benefits Package includes Paid Time Off (PTO); medical, dental, and vision insurance; and the opportunity to participate in the organization’s retirement savings plan.
