About the National Alliance for Caregiving

Since 1996, the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) has been a catalyst for change, transforming how the United States recognizes, supports, and values our nation’s 53 million family caregivers providing complex care. Through our nationally recognized research and our advocacy for the first-ever National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, we drive the policy, system, and culture change needed to make family caregivers a national priority. With more than 50 members, we build partnerships across aging, disability, healthcare, philanthropy, and the private sector to make caregiving more sustainable, equitable, and dignified.

    About the Role

The Development Associate will support member, corporate and foundation relationships to advance NAC’s mission and impact. Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, this role will support the execution of membership recruitment, retention and engagement; sponsorship outreach; and grant-related activities. Envisioned as an entry-level position with 1-2 years of experience, the ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow in nonprofit fundraising and corporate partnerships.

This position can be remote or DC-based, with a preference for DC-based employment.

    • Coordinate with the Director of Operations to identify and follow-up on unpaid dues.
    • Support the Senior Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations in member recruitment, including researching and identifying prospects, scheduling calls, etc.
    • Coordinate and distribute recruitment and new member information packets.
    • Assist in the onboarding of new members.

    Grant & Sponsorship Management

    • Support work to secure new or renewal corporate and foundation funding, including researching funder opportunities, conducting outreach as needed, completing online submissions, etc.
    • Track and manage submissions, agreements, reporting deadlines and other funder requirements.
    • Organize funder and sponsor communications, including acknowledgment letters and other engagement touchpoints.
    • Maintain a grant reporting calendar, working with departments and programs to adhere to reporting requirements and ensure timely submissions.

    Donor Relations

    • Support the Board Annual Appeal, in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer.
    • Create protocols and sustain a timely acknowledgement and tax documentation program for individual contributions.
    • Support the CEO, COO and Senior Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations in communications to individual donors.
