    BACKGROUND

    OneAmerica (OA) was established in 2001 by U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal and has since grown to become a locally and nationally recognized leader in advancing immigrant, civil, and human rights. We utilize grassroots organizing, policy advocacy, and civic/electoral engagement to promote justice in three areas: immigration, education and early learning, and democracy reform. Our family of organizations consists of OneAmerica (501(c)3), OneAmerica Votes (OA) (501(c)4), OneAmerica Votes Justice Fund (State PAC) and OneAmerica Votes Justice for All Fund (Federal PAC).

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    OneAmerica is seeking a self-motivated Fundraising Manager to partner with OneAmerica’s Chief of Staff and Executive Team to execute our fundraising program that raises $5,000,000+ annually from government, foundations, individuals, organizations and our grassroots membership. The Fundraising Manager will lead grassroots membership and individual giving campaigns, work closely with the Chief of Staff on donor cultivation and grants management, and support our fundraising events throughout the year.

    The ideal candidate is motivated by our mission and can engage and inspire others to take action through giving. They are a detail-oriented project manager who is not afraid to manage up, down and sideways to make a campaign successful, and are excited to build their skills to advance in a fundraising career. They bring a racial justice lens and/or a lived experience with immigrant issues, experience with individual giving campaigns or organization membership programs and are comfortable asking people for money.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Support OneAmerica’s individual giving campaigns (25%):

    • Support the implementation of an individual donor program that raises $500,000+ annually
    • Track outreach and cultivation for major donors and cultivate your own small portfolio of mid-level to major donors that give, renew and stay engaged in OneAmerica’s work.
    • Lead our donor acknowledgement process that makes donors feel connected and appreciated
    • Track staff and board member fundraising progress, and help to foster a culture of accountability and shared ownership of fundraising throughout the organization
    • Coordinate and implement grassroots giving campaigns, incorporating peer-to-peer fundraising, and including biannual appeals (Washington GiveBIG and Giving Tuesday)
    • Draft persuasive fundraising emails and mailers that campaign arcs that inspire people to give
    • Collaborate with the Executive Assistant to maintain an accurate and updated donor database to reflect past, current, and prospective giving, meeting notes, etc.

    Assist with planning and execution of small and large fundraising events (20%):

    • Support Chief of Staff in planning and executing OneAmerica’s signature Annual Celebration (500+ attendees), Together We Rise PAC fundraiser (50-100 attendees) and 2-4 smaller house party and/or issue briefing events (15-40 people) annually, including advance preparation, day-of onsite work, and donor follow-up efforts
    • Manage event sponsorship programs including tracking and cultivating sponsors, project-managing annual outreach, and generating quality sponsorship recognition

    Manage and grow OneAmerica Votes 501(c)4 membership program (25%):

    • Develop and implement strategies for retention of existing members, and recruitment and cultivation of new members, centered around a goal of increasing monthly recurring gifts
    • Support and train internal staff, organizers, and community leaders on how to make membership asks in 1:1s and at events, with a focus on empowering individuals to make strong asks and facilitate cross-team efforts to strengthen the organizational culture of building power through money
    • Conspire to create compelling collateral and build OneAmerica Votes’ brand through storytelling and to advertise and incentivize membership for the broader community
    • Collaborate with the Power Building Team on tactics to mobilize grassroots members in support of OneAmerica Votes’ political goals and long-term electoral strategy

    Manage grants processing and administration (20%):

    • Maintain existing grants management tracker to coordinate submission of grant proposals and reports in partnership with contract grant-writer
    • Perform prospect research to identify new grant opportunities
    • Project-manage a Program Officer cultivation strategy set by the Chief of Staff
    • Assist with report and grant drafting, when needed

    Participate in organizational power-building efforts (10%):

    • Develop own base of community members to move around organizational mission and turn out for events and actions
    • Attend and participate in OneAmerica power-building events like lobby day in Olympia, Citizenship Day naturalization clinics and door-knocking to connect with our base.
    • Additional staff support, as needed, to benefit OneAmerica and OneAmerica Votes and the shared organizational mission

    QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES

    OneAmerica is seeking candidates who are passionate about our mission and are highly proactive. While no one candidate will embody all the qualifications below, our ideal candidate would bring and be:

    REQUIRED:

    • 2 or more years of demonstrated direct experience fundraising, including event planning experience
    • Program planning, implementation, and evaluation experience, in fundraising or another area.
    • Nation builder or similar fundraising database experience with an ambition to learn more
    • Ability to execute routine administrative procedures with a focus on smooth and efficient operation
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to professional conduct
    • Deep passion for social justice and building power in immigrant communities
    • Excitement around own leadership development and growth, and an interest in helping others to grow and develop both personally and professionally
    • Detail- and action-oriented with a willingness to take initiative and independently generate creative solutions

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience leading or supporting membership programs, ideally with a focus on grassroots outreach and power-building
    • Experience with grant writing and foundation partnerships, and the ability to support the Chief of Staff in grant tracking and prospecting
    • Interest in creative writing and storytelling to inspire action and uplift immigrant voices
    • High proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)
    • Bilingual or multilingual skills is a plus

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Willingness to accommodate community-based scheduling needs such as evening and weekend meetings
    • Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout Washington State and nationally on occasion

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • This is a hybrid position within Washington state and can be based out of our Seattle, Vancouver, or Yakima offices. The organization requires employees to be in-office twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays regardless of location.
