    The Iran Human Rights Documentation Center

    The Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC) is an independent, non-profit and strictly non-partisan organization that promotes human rights and the rule of law in Iran by documenting and reporting on human rights abuses that are ignored, supported, and often perpetuated by the Iranian government. IHRDC’s in-depth reports and legal analysis are published in Persian and English and are disseminated world-wide. IHRDC focuses on allegations of the most serious violations of human rights, such as murder, torture, unlawful imprisonment, enforced disappearance, sexual violence, and persecution on political, religious or gender grounds.

    Available Position

    The Program Associate assists with general administrative duties, grant administration, fundraising and development, administration of financial matters, and provides support to the organization on all other matters.

    The Program Associate will be responsible for the following:

    Grant Administration

      • Assist with managing budget processes, including single and multi-year grant budgets
      • Assist with timely grant reporting requirements and drafting progress reports for Grantors
      • Maintain up-to-date files with relevant documents for each grant program
      • Assist with grant compliance processes, including record upkeep

    Administrative Duties

      • Manage subscriptions held by IHRDC
      • Prepare documents for new employees
      • Maintain office files
      • Maintain organization’s contact list
      • Provide administrative support for Board meetings, including organizing attendance, assembling background packets, drafting board minutes and maintaining Board meeting files, working with the Board Chair as necessary to perform the aforementioned tasks
      • Maintain and update organization policies and procedures manual and other organizational documents
      • Maintain the organization’s calendar
      • Act as receptionist and answer telephone for the organization during business hours
      • Perform support tasks for the Executive Director as requested
      • Liaise with financial accounting firm in order to oversee day-to-day transactions of the organization and facilitate monthly closing and financial statements
      • Assist with managing revenue process from various funding sources, including but not limited to State and other Government agencies, private foundations, individual and corporate donors

    Fundraising and Development Duties

      • Manage donor databases
      • Facilitate relationships with individual donors, including drafting of thank you messages
      • Coordinate with financial accounting firm regarding donations and grants
      • Assist with organizing and coordinating fundraising events
      • Measure impact of fundraising efforts
      • Research potential donors and funding opportunities
      • Draft letters of inquiry, grant proposals, appeal letters, web postings and news releases
      • Assist in managing IHRDC’s social media presence, including Facebook, X, Telegram and Instagram
      • Collect, develop and organize data regarding outputs, outcomes, and impacts of IHRDC activities, including those set out by grant Monitoring and Evaluation plans
      • Perform additional tasks as necessary

    Job Requirements

      • Bachelor’s Degree
      • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in administrative and operations support; within a non-profit or human rights organization is a plus.
      • Excellent project management and operations skills, and the ability to manage detailed systems and processes that track progress on strategic and work plans
      • Strong MS Excel/Google Sheets skills (to be tested in interview process)
      • Ability to analyze and report on complex data in an easily digestible format to present to the Executive Director
      • Ability to manage and make progress on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
      • Ability to work with multiple grant budgets, both single year and multi-year plans
      • Attention to detail in writing and handling data, and commitment to excellence in all products (content and appearance).
      • Ability to represent IHRDC with professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy

    Desired Skills

    Compensation

    The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 per year.
