Organizational Background: The Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) is the nation’s only pan-Asian children’s advocacy organization. CACF aims to improve the health and well-being of Asian American and Pacific Islander children and families across New York State. Founded in 1986, CACF advocates for culturally competent, linguistically appropriate, and immigrant-accessible services for children and families of East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, West Asian, Central Asian, and Pacific Islander backgrounds. Through the Asian American Student Advocacy Project (ASAP), CACF works closely with AAPI students from New York City public high schools to educate, train, and equip youth to be agents of positive change. CACF is seeking a part-time, temporary ASAP Administrative Assistant to support ASAP’s programming work from 9/8/2025 to 6/26/2026. This position’s exact start and end dates are flexible, with a possible chance to renew the position.

Note: This role does not engage in direct advocacy– CACF staff do not participate in campaigns or events alongside Youth Leaders; most job duties include tasks that support the program’s logistics and growth.

    Primary Responsibilities

Reporting to CACF’s Senior Program Coordinators, ASAP’s Administrative Assistant will support Coordinators with planning and executing the logistics of the ASAP Program. The Administrative Assistant will support ASAP’s efforts to activate AAPI youth to be life-long learners and change-makers who are prepared to thrive in the real world and take action and to educate and train youth to build more equitable schools, communities, and systems that impact the lives of all NYC young people.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Assisting Program Coordinators with data entry, note-taking, and other administrative duties on an as-needed basis
    • Offer support during ASAP meetings and for ASAP campaign development by guiding the ASAP Youth Leaders’ research, brainstorming and discussion during weekly in-person meetings
    • Support the expansion of ASAP by building a database of New York high schools outside of the NYC area
    • Manage and organize data and statistics about both Youth Leaders and their city and state representatives to support budget outreach strategy
    • Support ASAP alumni engagement by organizing meetings and planning for events
    • Support ASAP event planning and execution

    • Ability to work with diverse staff and flexibility to work on multiple tasks under pressure
    • Ability to set priorities among multiple responsibilities and maintain a consistent work schedule
    • Self-starter and comfortable taking initiative
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite

    Preferred

    • Graduated from a NYC public high school
    • Available Friday afternoon from 4:00-6:30 PM
