Job Description
The Scientific Writer position exists to bridge the gap between complex scientific research and clear, impactful communication. This role ensures the accurate and accessible dissemination of research findings and technical information to diverse audiences, including stakeholders, academic peers, and the public. By employing expertise in research synthesis, manuscript development, and editorial precision, the position supports the creation of high-quality publications, reports, and scientific materials that advance knowledge, inform policy, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making in global health and related disciplines.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Grant Proposal and Scientific Manuscript Development
- Draft and submit well-crafted, high-quality manuscripts and proposals that meet publication and funding requirements
- Collaborate with researchers to present study findings clearly and accurately.
- Ensure adherence to submission guidelines for journals and funding agencies.
2. Content Creation and Science Communication
- Develop content for social media, newsletters, and web pages to communicate research outcomes to improve the visibility of research initiatives with measurable audience engagement across communication channels.
- Timely and accurate bilingual content that supports research outreach and global collaboration by translating scientific and technical content between Korean and English, ensuring cultural and linguistic accuracy
- Create visually engaging materials to simplify complex information for non-technical audiences.
3. Research and Study Support
- Review and edit study protocols, regulatory documents, and data collection tools for clarity and compliance for the enhanced quality and coherence of study documents and research protocols
- Conduct literature reviews to inform study design and publication efforts.
- Provide the timely and accurate translation from Korean to Englis, and vice vers, for study materials to support cross-border research collaboration and publications.
4. Support for Deputy Director General (DDG), Associate Director General (ADG) and other lead scientists in EPIC
- Attend high-level meetings to capture key discussions and decisions.
- Draft comprehensive and accurate meeting documentation supporting informed decision-making
- Draft associated publications.
- Coordinate follow-up actions to ensure the timely and effective implementation of strategic initiatives led by the DDG and ADG.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
1. Education Requirements
- Bachelor or MSc (Public Health, Law, Social Sciences, Communication, others)
2. Related Field Work Experience
- 3 years with Master’s degree or 5 years with Bachelor’s degree
3. Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge
- Previous experience (>1 years) in scientific writing, editing, and research support for global health and legal institutions, including the IVI and academic publications.
- Proven ability to manage writing and publication projects involving cross-functional collaboration with researchers and stakeholders.
- Expertise in scientific and technical writing, editing, and manuscript development for peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience supporting grant proposal writing and policy briefs.
- Proficient in bilingual translation between English and Korean for technical and academic content.
- Strong research and analytical skills for literature reviews and content synthesis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, data analysis, and presentation tools.
4. Key Competency
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills tailored for diverse audiences.
- Strong project management and organizational skills to handle multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Proactive in continuous learning and staying updated on emerging trends in research and communication.
5. Language Proficiency
- Fluency in Korean and English; French skills an asset
