Position Description
Arlington Food Assistance Center Mission:
The mission of the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) is to provide free, nutritious, supplemental groceries to needy individuals and families who reside in Arlington County. Clients are referred to AFAC by the Arlington County Department of Human Services, local social service agencies, churches, and schools.As a non-profit organization, AFAC relies heavily on volunteers to help us distribute our groceries to over 4,000 families who come to AFAC for food each week, and we rely on generous gifts of food and funds from our donors to meet the growing demand for our services.
Position Summary:
The AFAC Driver is responsible for the reliable pickup and delivery of food donations and supplies to and from AFAC’s partner sites. Routes and schedules may vary based on the operational needs of AFAC and its community partners. This role requires punctuality, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility. The driver often serves as an ambassador for AFAC, and must consistently demonstrate kindness, patience, and respect when interacting with donors and distribution sites. A commitment to safety and adherence to all traffic laws is essential. The AFAC driver reports directly to the Director of Operations.

The position is full-time (40 hours a week) and is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The position includes nine paid holidays, paid annual and sick leave as outlined in the AFAC Employee Handbook, health benefits, and a 401K plan.
