    Job Purpose:

    The Development Officer plays a key role in supporting and participating in all aspects of SHOFCO’s fundraising and communication efforts. Through their strong writing and communication skills, s/he assists the development and communications staff in the management and stewardship of the donor database, supports donor relations and provides administrative support.

    Key Responsibilities / Duties/ Tasks

    1. Administrative
      1. Serve as administrator to the Development Team and provide in assistance all areas as needed (including expense reports, general NYC office administration)
      2. Serve as first point of contact to general SHOFCO inquiries (phone, email, website)
      3. Lead in CRM administration, including data entry, producing reports, and data clean-up
    2. Institutional Fundraising
      1. Support Development Manager in development of proposals and donor reports
      2. Compile due diligence documents required in grant applications
      3. Conduct research in support of proposals
      4. Coordinate with the programming team to produce donor reports
      5. Proofread reports and prepare for submission to donors
      6. Conduct prospect research of institutional donors and maintain a pipeline of potential opportunities
    3. Individual Fundraising & Communications
      1. Conduct prospect research on any new donors and existing donors, as needed.
      2. Manage donor acknowledgement process, including digital and print acknowledgements
      3. Provide fundraising campaign assistance and strategy for low-level donors (less than $5k) and sponsors, including email and social media drafts, email distribution, list management
      4. Track results of fundraising campaigns and provide updates to Advancement team
      5. Assist with any event planning and scheduling
      6. Proofreading and editing documents, proposals, grant reports
      7. Prospect and donor research, including institutional donors as needed
      8. Support Chief Advancement Officer and Director of Development on Board Meeting logistics, as needed
      9. Work with Finance office on monthly donation reconciliations between CRM and financial systems
      10. Manage internship program
    4. Sponsorship Program
      1. Assemble and distribute sponsorship update
      2. Assemble and distribute Sponsor Newsletter
      3. Track sponsorship payments, provide acknowledgements, and steward renewals and/or lapsed sponsors
      4. Support as needed to US-based high school students
      5. Manage high-level sponsors and steward renewals

    Academic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

    Other Requirements (unique/job specific)

    • 2 years administrative/non-profit fundraising experience, required, ideally within prospect research and grant writing
    • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Drive required, CRM and InDesign a plus)
    • Outstanding written, verbal, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
    • Some graphic design experience a plus
    • Analytical thinker with outstanding attention to detail
    • Self-motivated and goal-driven
    • Passion for the mission and work of Shining Hope for Communities
    • Must be able to work out of SHOFCO’s New York, NY office
