    Description

Immediate Opening: Foundation Manager - PART TIME Contract

Organizational Description: Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) is committed to ensuring that all young people in MA have the mentoring relationships they need to develop into thriving, engaged adults, resulting in vibrant communities.

    What We Do

Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) is the leading mentoring resource in Massachusetts. Instead of running a single program, we strengthen and expand mentoring across hundreds of organizations to reach more young people.

    We focus on:

    1. Training & Supporting Mentoring Organizations – We provide training, consultation, and best practices to youth-serving programs, schools, and workforce organizations.
    2. Advocating for Funding & Policy Support – We secure state funding, influence policies, and educate leaders on the importance of mentoring relationships.
    3. Connecting Mentoring to Schools & Workforce Development – We help schools, businesses, and youth-serving organizations embed mentoring into their work.
    4. Strengthening Youth Leadership & Voice – We equip organizations with tools to involve young people in shaping mentoring programs and advocating for their needs.
    5. Expanding Corporate & Community Partnerships – We work with businesses, colleges, and community groups to increase access to mentorship opportunities.

By supporting over 340 youth-serving organizations, MMP amplifies mentoring’s impact far beyond what any single program could achieve, reaching over 79,000 young people in Massachusetts.

MMP Values: Youth in mentoring relationships are oftentimes told that anyone who works hard, studies, and makes good decisions will get ahead. For many youths of color, however, structural barriers based on race create unique life challenges for which mentoring alone cannot account. We recognize that a “savior mentality” has historically been embedded in mentoring through the lens of race, class, gender, and other marginalized identities. It has centered on the notion that one person (an adult from a position of influence and power) can somehow improve the life of a young person who is challenged or troubled. It emphasizes the deficits of that young person or their family’s life and the assets in the life of the adult. While born of good intentions, it reinforces the existing systemic and structural inequities in our society because it does not interrogate them or force exploration. In addition, we recognize that leadership at all levels in the mentoring field plays a role in either maintaining the status quo or in being a change agent to address institutional barriers that produce disparate racial outcomes. With this in mind, MMP strives to recognize the assets of both individuals and their identities in the mentoring relationship and the power of stable, unconditional relationships to unlock opportunity and learning for both parties.

Position Summary: MMP is seeking a creative and dynamic professional to join our team as a Part-Time Foundation Manager. This position has been held by an external consultant for the last year and a half, in which the work was conducted virtually. MMP now feels that the position will be more effective working 2 days a week in MMP’s Boston office, in order to build the necessary cross-team relationships to create strong proposals and detailed funding reports.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and take the initiative to seek out new funding leads. They will be confident when making suggestions and pursuing all possible avenues for securing grant funding. A balance of storytelling and data-driven research will allow this matchmaker to take a systematic approach to writing and preparing final proposals, letters of intent, and reports well in advance of deadlines.

Partnering deeply with the Chief Advancement Officer and the Advancement Operations Manager, success will also require cross-department collaboration with the Partnership Development, Training and Technical Assistance, and Operations teams. This position will be encouraged to bring creative ideas and solutions to the team with a deep sense of autonomy over their role. Take leadership over regular meetings regarding external funding partnerships, bring in other team members as needed, and own the agenda.

Reporting to MMP’s Chief Advancement Officer, the Part-Time Foundation Manager will work with the full support of MMP staff, assuring that initiatives in these focused areas are fully integrated into the organization’s strategic goals and annual operating plan.
