    About UP RVA:

    Mission Statement: The mission of UP RVA is to empower students to achieve economic sustainability by providing access to exceptional secondary and post-secondary academic opportunities and bridging the educational equity gap.

    UP RVA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Richmond, VA. The organization's mission is to serve low-income high school and college students. We currently support 27 high school students attending five independent schools in Richmond (Collegiate, St. Catherine’s, St. Christopher’s, Steward, and Trinity Episcopal). 22 UP RVA students attend 14 colleges and universities in three states. The annual operating budget is approximately $1,500,000.

    Position Overview:

    Reporting to the Director of Academic Success, the Academic Success Coach will partner with UP RVA’s Academic Team to help support student academic success. This position will provide academic interventions for UP RVA middle and high school students and oversee the UP RVA recruitment and admissions process.

    This is a 12-month, full-time position. We observe school-based holidays and close in June. The position will start on July 1.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • School Day Interventions
      • Meet with and offer academic support for a caseload of 12-16 UP RVA students during school hours at two of our partner schools.
      • Support student academic needs, including homework completion, quiz and test preparation, and other school-related assignments.
      • Partner with the Director of Academic Success to track students’ academic progress weekly.
      • Assist in developing and executing learning plans for students on Academic Warning.
      • Support in the supervision of the UP RVA after-school program.
      • Meet and communicate effectively with the Academic and Operations Team members.
      • Assist in developing and implementing programming for UP RVA high school students that elevates social-emotional learning, wellness, and belonging.
      • Assist with the UP RVA Pathways Program as needed.
    • Recruitment & Admissions:
      • Lead student recruitment efforts for UP RVA’s middle and high school programs, ensuring alignment with enrollment goals and the organization’s mission.
      • Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage prospective students and families, including community events, school partnerships, and direct outreach.
      • Manage the application and admissions process, supporting families with enrollment requirements, deadlines, and school placement.
      • Build strong relationships with partner schools, educators, and community organizations to support recruitment efforts.
