    Description

    PURPOSE

    Provides highly complex accounting for nonprofit legal services dependency organization.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Prepares accurate and timely financial statements and reports to management as designated by Director of Finance and Administration
    • Reviews and analyzes complex financial and contractual agreements and grant funding agreements
    • Develops accurate complex financial records and documentation with appropriate and required confidentiality
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, payroll related tax reports and other financial schedules
    • Responds to audit inquires by management and other information required by federal, sate and local government agencies
    • Conducts research of finance, accounting, and payroll systems and issues and makes recommendations to Financial Controller
    • Performs complex analytical tasks or projects related to finance, investments, payroll, or human resources, operations, or information technology
    • Supervise and conduct month-end and year-end closing of financial system, retirement and benefits services
    • Maintain and monitor technical aspects of the financial accounting system in coordination with other staff under the supervision of the Financial Controller and Assistant Financial Controller
    • Prepare and audit supporting documentation and data ensuring that all entries and adjustments are properly authorized and entered into the accounting systems
    • Conducts journal entries for general ledger coherence and monitors internal controls surrounding the general ledger system and subsystems
    • Assists management in finding solutions to difficult accounting challenges for accounts payable and accounts receivable
    • Provides general ledger line-item auditing and accounts payable and transaction processing support
    • Establishes schedules, calendars, controls and systems that are accurate and reliable
    • Recommend and implement changes in accounting systems and procedures including, but not limited to the design of reports, forms and other documents
    • Recognize, anticipate and analyze accounting systems issues and needs based on relevant information and
    • Assists in leading project management of software upgrades, implementation, deployment, and training and documentation of clear business requirements and internal controls and processes
    • Assist in the development complex of fiscal year planning, budgeting, cost accounting, and agency goals and objectives
    • Experience in preparing timely and accurate responses to requests with appropriate urgency

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

    Five (5) years of strong relevant experience in accounting performing complex duties and responsibilities in financial, accounting, operations, budgetary and similar related analytical work. Strong learning orientation with individual and team work ethic, and technology experience with accounting or payroll systems a plus.

    SPECIAL NOTES, LICENSES, OR REQUIREMENTS

    Verification that applicant has their own vehicle. The employee must have active and up-to-date insurance which must be presented on demand. A valid California class C driver’s license which must be maintained throughout employment, is required at the time of appointment for field travel. Employees in this class may be required to use their own vehicle.

    US Citizenship Verification:

    Must supply I-9 documentation for eligibility verification.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

    Physical activities include, but are not limited to, on a continuous basis: sitting at a desk and use of video monitor, standing for a short period of time in court or offices, repetitive motion and typing when using computer keyboard. Communicate through use of keyboard and written means and talking with staff and clients on the telephone. Hearing well enough to understand light speech. Intermittent twisting and reaching with some bending, stooping, or squatting, and lift up to 25 pounds. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
