    Responsibilities

    The Executive Director is the key management leader of GCF, reporting to the Board of Directors. This role is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s operations, including administration, program management and development/execution of the strategic plan, fundraising, financial reporting, marketing and community outreach. Specific responsibilities include:

    Leadership, Financial and Strategic Planning

    • Establishment of operating policies and procedures.
    • Execution of GCF operations, including banking, database management, and audit support.
    • Implementation of GCF programs, including coordination of grant review and reporting processes, and contracting with grant recipients and their institutions.
    • Presentation of annual budget and quarterly financial statements to the Board of Directors.
    • Participation in strategic planning with the Board of Directors.

    Fundraising and Development

    • Development of relationships with individual donors and sponsor organizations including biopharmaceutical companies.
    • Serving as chief fundraiser for the organization, cultivating relationships with current and prospective donors, foundations and partners.
    • Ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization through grants, major gifts, individual giving and partnerships.
    • Management of annual fundraising drive, including direct-mail and social media campaigns.

    Marketing and Community Engagement

    • Execution of marketing and communications activities.
    • Representing the organization in public forums, conferences and stakeholder meetings.
    • Management of GCF website and social media, working with contractors to update content on a regular basis.

    Requirements

    Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years prior experience in management, marketing and fundraising in a non-profit setting. Must be comfortable working across disciplines and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, grant writing and strategic fundraising is essential. The position requires resourcefulness, creative thinking and a passion for finding a cure for cancer. Some exposure to the science of cancer research and pharmaceuticals is a plus but not required.
