    Teenagers Center for Awakening (TCA) is a non-profit, Community Based- Organization based in Kakuma, Turkana County, Kenya. Our unwavering mission is to empower teenagers within the Kakuma refugee camp and host community. We achieve this through comprehensive teachings, hands-on vocational training, and holistic support programs. Our goal is to foster sustainable livelihoods, nurture individual potential, and create lasting positive community impact for these young people who are building their futures in challenging circumstances.

    The opportunity: Remote social media volunteer

    We are looking for a creative and proactive Remote Social Media Volunteer to help us tell our story, highlight the incredible resilience of the youth we serve, and engage with supporters worldwide. Your efforts will be crucial in raising awareness, attracting resources, and building a vibrant online community around TCA's vital work.

    Key responsibilities

    • Content creation: Develop engaging text, image, and video content for our social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn), ensuring consistency with TCA's brand voice and mission.
    • Content curation: Identify and share relevant news, articles, and inspiring stories related to youth empowerment, education, and humanitarian efforts in refugee contexts.
    • Scheduling posts: Utilize provided tools to schedule posts effectively, ensuring a consistent and strategic online presence.
    • Community engagement: Monitor comments, messages, and mentions, and respond appropriately to foster positive interactions with our online community.
    • Campaign support: Assist in promoting specific campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and success stories to maximize reach and impact.
    • Trend monitoring: Stay informed about current social media trends and best practices to help us adapt and improve our online presence.

    Skills and qualifications

    • Proven interest in social media and digital communication.
    • Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
    • Creativity and an eye for compelling visuals.
    • Familiarity with various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn).
    • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
    • Access to a reliable internet connection and a personal computer/device.
    • A passion for youth empowerment, education, and humanitarian causes.
    • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus, but not required.

    Time commitment and location

    • Time commitment: We are seeking a commitment of approximately 3 hours per week for a duration of 4 months. This can be flexibly spread throughout the week to suit your schedule.
    • Location: This is a fully remote/virtual volunteer opportunity, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the world.
