    Hello I am gladdened by your interest to volunteer in a small village.

    We are a host and help to our community who run micro projects

    through our volunteers’ funds ,Knowledge, and skills. We would like to reach out to international

    students, volunteers, social activists, Eco and budget tourists.

    You are welcome to stay in Rose Home Stay.. We host volunteers as a tourist

    according the Government rule.

    R.H.S. not only provides the village with a much needed additional

    source of income but provides visitors with a chance to interact with

    the community gaining an insight into their way of life one that you

    will never experience while staying in hotel or backpackers hostel.

    They say the heart of India lies in her villages during your stay with

    us I am sure you will fall in love with her.

    During your time at the guest house you can become involved in local

    farming activities, festivals and hopefully help with fundraising

    activities. Alternatively visitors who just want to escape the hustle

    and bustle of the modern world can relaxing read books, walk the main

    trails of the village while enjoying the beauty that surrounds us.

    Those guest who are interested in volunteering we allow you to draw on

    your own knowledge and skills and with our help create a programme

    that you feel most passionate about. Knowledge & Cultural Tourism,

    Wellness Tourism ,Development Education, Eco-Village Rural Tourism and

    others.

    1. Taught English in the local school while also learning the Hindi language
    1. Studied Eco Rural Sustainable Tourism, Environment protection, and

    Eco-development

    1. Funded Rural Architecture development and Eco Construction
    1. Used our amazing back drop for filming projects for their

    university courses.

    1. Helped to market R.O.S.E as a Non Profit NGO that promotes

    strengthen the quality of life

    In the local community

    1. Created marketing campaigns International integrity, Website

    design, networking, office help, slideshow

    1. Organic Farming / Gardening, Composting /
    1. -Local skill / craft / traditional technology / knowledge / heritage learning/

    spiritual enlightenment/rural lifestyle /rural livelihood/yoga/local walk and others.

    1. Construction of toilets for poor local families, renovating and

    maintaining a path.

    10 Installed renewable energy sources ie Solar street lamps and lights

    in poor village’s homes.

    Each volunteer needs to contribute for 2 weeks – Pound 300/- 50% for the community Social help project and 50% for home stay lodging. All food is provided.ALL THE 50% MONEY GOES DIRECTLY TO THE COMMUNITY NOT FOR ADMINISTRATION

    in rural India and the foothills of the Himalayas.

    Instructions:

    Do’s & don’t: As we shall move into a conservative society it becomes important for us to respect their way of living. After discussing with our past guests we would like to share few points and we request our guests to kindly keep following points in mind during the stay:

    • Avoid public display of affection to your companion or with the local people.
    • Do not defecate or urinate near water source.
    • Do not use your finger or serving spoon for tasting the food.
    • For ladies, it is advisable that they wear concealing clothing & avoid wearing clothes like shorts, short skirts or spaghetti tops. Please do not feel offended. We are just facilitating you to be a part of the group. Incorrect clothing can make you feel isolated.
    • Please respect the values, believes, culture and religion of your hosts and the people of the locality.
    • Please feel free to ask your host questions about their customs, culture etc as this will not only enhance your awareness but also help in enhancing your relationship.
    • While planning your trip do consider referring to the inputs provided by us in the section what to carry.

    The only prerequisites for volunteering with R.O.S E are:

    • Patience and willingness to learn, low-cost technology/skill and

    knowledge sharer, helper and supporter.

    • Flexibility and adaptability, obedient to host.
    • Honesty and respect for local lifestyles don’t create a problem for

    the host family and community.

    • A sense of humor! Don’t do antisocial activities. Living civilized way.
    • Don’t show western culture and wearing proper dress.
    • Don’t drink Alcohol / Wine and don’t smoke hemp.
    • After dinner goes to bed, keep quiet don’t shouting, Don’t disturb any person.
    • *Don't motivate other volunteers who are with us here and not to harm them or moving from here.

    What can I expect when volunteering with R.O.S.E?

    ROSE offers an array of opportunities to self-motivated volunteers It

    is a real experience in community life Opportunities include:

    • Living with a family, as part of a local community/world wide family, and having a real experience of a rural Indian lifestyle.
    • Being involved in teaching school children, organic farming and learning about biodiversity and cottage industries, including construction and protection of local Environment.
    • Enjoying the tranquility and beautiful scenery of an organic agricultural village in the foothills of the Himalayas, or taking time out to explore the Himalayas on one of the many Treks in the Kanda area. Learning Hindi or Kumaoni and enjoying unique Kumaoni cuisine.
    • Developing self-confidence social awareness, and having fun!
