    Description

    Volunteer Event Coordinator

Parkinson Canada is recruiting volunteers to help plan the 2025 SuperWalk! We are looking for either one volunteer to be a lead Volunteer Event Coordinator, or a small group of volunteers to make up a planning committee.

Superwalk is the largest annual fundraiser for Parkinson Canada, an important and ever-expanding resource for Canadians living with Parkinson’s and their care partners. SuperWalk Coordinators play a pivotal role in raising awareness and funds for people living with Parkinson’s. They champion and lead the coordination of SuperWalk in communities, from start to finish, with support from Parkinson Canada staff.

As a SuperWalk Coordinator or member of a planning committee, your people-skills, enthusiasm, and talent for organizing make you an excellent community facilitator. You enjoy guiding and mentoring other volunteers and helping them excel at their tasks. As someone who loves event logistics, you enjoy completing tasks such as:

    • Preparing a budget for the local event, in collaboration with Parkinson Canada staff
    • Sourcing local sponsorships and in-kind donations in conjunction with the Sponsorship Coordinator
    • Ensuring the funds collected the day of the event are properly recorded and deposited
    • Recruiting and managing event-day volunteers alongside Parkinson Canada staff
    • Ensuring all activities and actions are in alignment with the Parkinson Canada SuperWalk program and Parkinson Canada Policies
    • Attending the walk on the event day to ensure ultimate success!

The time commitment for this opportunity is approximately 6-8 hours per month between April and September. Volunteers will attend a monthly meeting with Parkinson Canada staff and they will also attend the event in early September (dates vary by location, but are either Saturday, September 6 or Sunday, September 7).
